20 Best Bike Tube Patch Kit (2023 Updated)

This bike innertube patch kit does not really work. The glue is simple rubber cement rather than cold vulcanizing fluid. As such, it’ll adhere for a little while, enough to get you home, but the patch will work loose within a few dozen miles of riding.

The fact that you can peel the patch off when you find the tube flat again shows it isn’t permanent. With a proper cold vulcanizing patch it like Rema Tip Top or many other brands, the patch will never come off no matter how hard you try.

I’ve had “glueless” type patches work better than this Slime product.

I didn’t use this for a tire, however I used it for an air mattress and it worked WAY better than I honestly thought it would. I’m so glad I went with this over the original air mattress repair method of using a vinyl patch kit.

Not hating on that method, but all the tutorials that I saw using a vinyl kit said that you need to let it dry for 24 hours. I slapped this sucker on the leak and 30 minutes later, my husband was sleeping on the same air mattress and so far it has held wonderfully for over a week and it doesn’t look affected at all.

It was even cheaper than a vinyl repair kit! 100% recommend for an air mattress repair!.

I realized that my bike had flat tyre as I was about to ride it to the campus. I was worried because I don’t have a car to take my bike to the bike shop. I then found this available for delivery. The thing seems to be super cool.

I was able to paste a patch by following the instructions and it did a great job on my first attempt. Not sure how long it lasts but it has become a life saver for me so far. I definitely recommend this for both the great job it did and the price.

Look, I’ve never patched a tire in my life and had no idea what I was doing. Google said I needed a tube patch kit to fix the flat on my jogging stroller, and I was so sure I wouldn’t be able to handle it that I bought a new stroller.

But shipping time was a week, so I figured I might as well have a learning experience in the meantime. As you can see, I did not end up with a tube patch kit; in fact this is specifically for tubeless tires (I obviously should have read the package more carefully).

However! I can tell you that it works great on tubes! The secret (as I learned on my second try) is to make sure all parts of the patch come in contact with the rubber cement, so if you didn’t put enough on the tube (or I assume the tire) you can just sneak a little more under the edges of the patch after sticking it on and press down again.

On the second try (with the same patch! this stuff was very forgiving) I got the whole patch stuck down, and five minutes later was able to reinflate the tube without leaks. I put it back in the tire and did three miles with the stroller this morning.

So I’m not suggesting you misuse this product. I’m just saying, if it works this well for a tube it’s not even designed for, imagine how great it will be on your actual tire!.

Used this on an automotive radial tire that had a slit on the tread larger than than those ubiquitous plugs could seal. From the pictures on front of the package, I wasn’t (and still am not) sure if these patches are meant for car tires, but the better “patch plugs” aren’t readily available so decided to try it.

Well, 2 weeks and several hundred miles later, it’s holding up. Not even a 1 psi drop. Proper prep work is essential for these things to work and, unfortunately, the included directions are quite poor.

Fortunately, there are good vids and other tutorials available online which show you how to do it.

Product works great as long as you use it as intended. Do not make the apparent mistake that “Dissatisfiedx2” made and apply the patch to the outside of the tire (applying the sealant and patch to outside of the tire obviously will not work).

The patch must be applied to the inside of the tire (i. e. remove the nail, screw. remove the tire from the rim then follow the provided instructions with the sealant and patch applied inside the tire).

I’ve used the patch kit to repair tubeless 10″ to 24″ go-kart and riding mower tires. The patch kit requires more work, but works better than the liquid fix-a-flat (which can be messy) or plugs (which are applied from the outside and don’t work as well on thin 2-ply tires).

First off in reading the reviews on this item pre-order I see people seem to have a variety of results, some good, some not so good. Given my first experience using this patch kit and the patches included I’ll start by listing EXACTLY what I was working with: Bone Stock 2022 Scott aspect Mtn Bike, flat front tire.

Rim: 29″ Alexrims syncros 32 spoke presta valve (width tbd) tube: kenda 29 x 2. 30-2. 40 tire: kenda 61-622 29 x 2. 40 Tire was flat enough that once I got one tire lever under the tire, the second lever just slid all the way round and undid the bead on one side, so I really didn’t need 3 in this case, but I can see how 3 could be useful at times.

At that point, the valve stem came out of the hole in the rim just fine and it was on to patching the hole. er finding it first. I’m really glad I was at home doing this as the hole was a rather small pinhole, not obvious by examination of the tube at all.

with this patch kit alone, I’m not sure how I would have found that hole out on the trail. I used the laundry sink, plugged up, with a bit of liquid soap and finally got small bubbles, locating the hole.

The self stick patches included at first sight did not instill much confidence, and after initial post application they instilled even less. That said I think there are a few tricks to pass on in using these: It’s a good idea to roughen the area before applying the patch and follow the directions (which are included in the box of patches) They need to be applied flat with no wrinkles at all whatsoever.

Also, once applied, any air in the tube will immediately work to cause a bubble under the patch. One needs to, just like applying a bumper sticker, work the air bubbles out to and past the edge and make certain that ALL of the patch adheres to the tube.

All in all, we shall see how this holds up. update, 13 days later. (it would be useful if rei would allow editing of reviews already submitted from within a registered acct) In writing the above, my outlook was guarded at best.

Well, the bike sat in the garage for the last almost 2 weeks with absolutely no chance whatsoever of suffering another puncture. I went to ride it today, and. yup, front tire was flat! So time to do this all over again! I knew given the above that the patch had failed even prior to removing the tube but upon removal of the tube took the time to verify this.

Yup, the patch had failed and was giving bubbles of air right at one edge! with a bit of work, I peeled off that patch and tossed the rest of the self stick patches in the garbage can! The self stick patches are JUNK! That said, The levers are quite good, though I could almost do without them on my particular bike and used a total of one to get the tire to where I could get the tube out, and none were needed to put the tire the rest of the way back onto the rim.

I would AVOID buying this kit, as THE PATCHES ARE LIKELY TO LEAVE YOU STUCK SOMEWHERE 10-20 MILES IN, WHERE YOU NOW GET TO CARRY YOUR BIKE OUT WITH YOU AS IT WONT HAVE A FIXED TIRE. I give this kit a COMPLETE VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE! Buy the levers separately along with a good glue based patch kit.

I’ve had the levers for 2 years now and have abused them pretty good with no breaks. Have snapped friends’ levers, but somehow these keep on trucking. Love having three – on pesky tires I’ll set two (held by spokes) while I go to town in-between them with the third.

Plus they weigh nothing and are incredibly cheap for how long they’ve lasted. The tube patches are fine. Some have held for over a year, some leak right away. It’s really just how well you clean the area around the hole and whether the patch lays on a seam.

But I like them more than dealing with glue in the field, so I just take a bunch of these patches and reapply if necessary. Wish this kit came with tire boots, because in my opinion that’s another critical repair item if your tire also gets punctured.

Get this kit, some Part Tool boots, and a pump and you’re good to go.

This is a great kit to gift to someone who is getting into cycling. Tire levers are essential when you need them and these little patches will get you out of a sticky situation. The only reason I gave these 4 stars is that the levers are a little bulkier than other options on the market.

That being said, they work great. Ride On.

This packet can fit in your shirt pocket, purse, joggers pocket, bikers pocket or kit bag while riding a bike in case of an emergency flat tire! Have already used it and tire rim pullers are a dream come true if you’ve ever struggled with tube removal from a bike! Great helpers and 3 are just right to hold the tire while running one around the rim/tire for removal and re-installation.

Enough patches and JUST enough cement to re-patch a hole in a bike tube (could use a bit more cement in the tube, but just enough to keep the patches included in place). Handy and easy to use.

This 16 Piece Repair Kit quality is good. I was able to repair the hole in my bike. This set is handy for emergency purpose. The packet came sealed and new in a small plastic box. It worked very well.

But I didn’t like the Tire Lever Removal Tools which was little shorter to hold it, but I was able to remove the tube with this tool. The patch and Tube of Vulcanizing Glue are good. The price is reasonable.

I’ve had to use this a couple times, and it works perfectly. I just followed the instructions, no issues so far.

I gave it a try, because my tire that I mounted tubeless got teared off. before buying a new tire, I just tried repairing this one. and I was quiet amazed when, after the repair, the air seemed to remain contained in the tire.

Air losses are more important than in the other, tire. but still, it saved me from buying a new tire. easy to apply I inflated an inner tube inside the tire, to make the patch stick, before I mounted the tire again in tubeless.

With this tire patch I was able to repair a large cut that the latex could not close. Then the price is the best on the web.

Finally a product able to repair large cuts in the tubeless tire and at a fair price.

This is a great tool to carry on bike with you. Easily fit in any pocket or bike case. Application tool is good design to allow you to use easily with no struggle. Great design. A must for anyone on the trails riding tubeless.

Easy to use. Don’t be afraid to use generous amount of rubber cement. It is not included with product but makes install of plug easier.

The tip is just too big. Hard to push in and makes most holes bigger. Really just a pain to deal with. Poorly designed. Worst tool ever!

Kit contains a full assortment of tools and materials, which is good, but it is heavy, about 1 1/4 pounds. I removed more than half the items to make a “traveling” kit. Those who know that they might need to repair only, say, tubeless tires should buy a more specialized, lighter, and less expensive kit.

Still, the whole kit is good for the garage.

This kit can be customized. I run tubes in my adventured bike, so I leave out the plugs and glue for tube tires. This makes the kit even lighter. Nice case.

Brilliant little kit. Only complaint I have is that there is only 6 patches. Work brilliantly. I currently have 3 on 1 tube.

Great product. The patches look tiny but pack a punch. Didn’t believe that they’d last, but they do!!!!! Used one on my 700c x 35 tube in my Hybrid bike and I am thoroughly satisfied.

Really easy to use – no glue, the patch sticks on the tube (which you roughen a bit with the metal grater). The best bit though is that the very stretchy patch does not create a tight spot on the tube – it stretches as the tube is inflated and so seems to last well.

Great for when the weather is against you.

I picked up the Bell Patch-it Bicycle Tube Repair Kit 1002486 (at a mass merchandiser) after using similar patch kits to patch my tubes for a number of years. It sounds great. Just roughen the tube with the metal buffer, apply the glue and one of the patches, pump up your tube and off you go.

What I found however, was that I had consistent problems with the patches failing. Where a tube patched with another patch was generally reliable and only failed if I did not diligently follow the instructions, the tube I attempted to patch with the Bell patches would not hold air.

It’d leak. Immediately — and fast enough that the tire remained unrideable. Or slowly — enough to get you where you needed to go, but you’d have to reinflate the tire again to get back home. Especially problematic were spots where the patch goes over a seam.

That was a sure failure as the adhesive on the patch wasn’t strong enough to draw it down to the tube on either side of the seam. Why aren’t the patches smoothe on the application side? I don’t mind much fixing flats, but I only want to do it once if I have to.

So stay away from this kit. The patches that Bell uses in this kit make patching flats an exercise in frustration.

unlike “glueless” patches these actually stick indefinitely to properly prepared surfaces. also they can be cut to size; i’ve used as small as 1/4″ squares for multiple thorn punctures, therefore a good value.

you can also do emergency patch-on-patch repair for larger holes that eventually widen to the edge of the existing patch. others usually won’t stick to their outer surfaces; these will. i’d recommend carrying sandpaper; the metal “buffer” is too coarse, can damage / weaken tube surface.

I get a lot of flat tires.So tube repair kits are a necessity. These are just what I needed. Been using Bell Sports repair kits for years.

I must admit I’ve been spoiled by using Rema Tip Top patches for patching all my bicycle tubes, but I got caught needing to buy a patch kit for a yard cart tube (Harbor Freight wheel/tube/tire), so I figured this would at least work in a pinch.

It doesn’t — It’s been a few years since I’ve encountered a patch kit this terrible, the rubber cement simply will NOT stick to either the tube (and I scruffed it with both the metal “scruffer” that comes with the kit, and I also tried using some emery cloth I had handy) — I tried using a little cement, I tried using a lot of cement, I tried holding the patch in place, but no matter what, the glue peels right off both surfaces.

Total garbage.

I keep a tube patch kit on hand since it seems that flat tires do not only happen when the stores are open. I used up the one I had and needed to replace it. The price on this kit is very reasonable and it includes everything you need to repair a hole in a tube.

It is one of those products you buy, but hope you never need it.

First, none of the local Auto part stores even carries tube patch’s any more. A friend said that he thought Harbor freight carried patch kits. I bought the kit to patch a inner tube on a antique Mack truck.

Seems to be working good. I’m happy. Old size truck tubes are very expensive now! Did not have to replace it. Thanks Don Wilson.

These patch kits work exceptionally well when used as directed. I have gotten tons of life out of tubes with these, and the process is quite fast when you become practiced at it. My main advices is once the patch is fully set and dried, leave the tube inflated for at least 24 hours to confirm it is holding air.

For anyone who is waste and/or budget conscious, this truly is great. You will save a decent amount of money in the long run by reusing your tubes.

This is probably the best puncture repair kit that’s out there. I’ve used it to repair 3 punctures so far and every one of them is holding up well, almost as if it were a brand new tube! I think it’s got something to do with the Vulcanizing solution that apparently form a molecular bond with the rubber patch – works for sure! Do not remove the plastic covering on the patches as they prevent it from sticking to the tire – no need for talcum powder – learnt this from the Park tool instructional video on applying patches! (Be sure to watch before trying yourself) Comes in a tiny package that barely takes up any space in a saddle bag.

In closure – A must-have in any puncture kit!.

Tiny pinhole in the seam of the tube, thankfully away from the valve, which was leaking. The included sandpaper to rough up the tube is tiny, so I used my own. Let dry after dipping in water to find the leak.

Sanded. Glued. Let dry. Patched. Rolled between smooth surfaces to ensure bonding. Waited. Re-checked. Installed. No complaints after more than a week of holding 60+psi. Watch the park youtube video on patching even if you have patched before.

Worth a refresher.

A good ,quality product that is good to repair tires and tubes, the kit has all the right parts for the necessary repairs, and the price is right.

very handy and useful

I only carry one spare tube, and I consider any self-gluing patch to be a temporary fix. But, I always carry these and they have saved me on a couple of long rides in Goathead country when I had a second flat during the ride.

These patches helped me get home and avoid the “Call of Shame”. One thing, follow the directions carefully. You must apply constant pressure on the patch for 30 seconds or they will begin to leak – as the directions suggest.

Do it correctly and they perform extremely well!.

Nothing worse than being out for a long bike ride, get a flat, and have no way to repair it. I always take a spare tube, tire lever, and pump, but I’ve had occasions where my spare failed, or I’ve actually gotten a 2nd flat! In those cases having this patch kit saves the day.

The patches are peel and stick, which are much easier to use than the old fashioned patches where you have to apply rubber cement, then attach the patch. messy!! This little kit also comes with a tire boot, something you think you may never need, but I’ve had 2 occasions in the past year where I got a sizeable sidewall cut/tear.

Without having a tire boot I couldn’t have gotten myself back up and riding.

I bought two of these tire repair kits for a couple of my motorcycles. Since I question if four CO2 cartridges are enough for more than a 20 PSI tire fill I thought that I’d buy a few extras for each bike.

However, the cartridges are not marked to help me find a direct replacement nor could Revzilla sell me replacements. Even worse is that Bike Master will not respond to my inquiries about replacement cartridges.

That’s what I call poor customer service. Lesson learned.

Note: I have *not* used it yet. But, the pack seems relatively complete, except for a pressure gauge (I stuffed a pencil gauge in OK though). The only really janky part is the plastic handle which contains the reamer and strip plunger.

It makes a heck of a lot of noise with the tools rattling around in the handle; luckily I had some foam I could stuff in there to dampen it.

(Disclaimer: I can not attest to the longevity of the tools provided. ) This product most assuredly will will get you down the road after a flat. Paired with a few other tools this changes the dynamic of your ride, and wallet.

Here’s the kicker; this instruction manual is single sheet of paper, when unfolded is 14. 8cm-W X 21cm-L. I understand what I’m doing with everything provided, but if someone didn’t know; some of these tools would probably go unused.

A small booklet containing short tutorials, unbiased tool requirements, and a number safety tips to help the customer along wouldn’t have been hard. 2-3 times the paper maybe, but that’s nothing of we are being realistic.

A few touches like that and I think it would feel like a more premium product for this price. I think because these problems this product would be better priced and bit lower. Maybe 34-37 $USD.

Thanks Cyclop for the reasonable price and good quality product. Already repaired 2 cycles with front tyre puncture. Its been a week now and it is holding good without any issue. Recommend this product to all.

Perhaps the kit with its box is somewhat bulky for my taste, although in part it is because the glue tube is generous in size and that is appreciated. There is always the option of taking things out of the box.

The set looks quality (file included).

Excellent product! If you are a sinus sufferer or have allergies don’t grab the Afrin but do grab the saline spray. Afrin and other medicated nasal sprays only last for a short while and you tend to over use.

Most people are unaware that after three days you get this thing called rebound, which is a stuffy nose because you used too much Afrin the solution is to use Saline and it takes a week to get back to normal.

I use this when my sinuses are super dry from a cold, allergies, or a change in weather. The liquid comes out smooth and doesn’t irritate my nostrils at all. The blend is equivalent to other blends out there.

I notice a difference between when I use this and when I don’t.

I love my saline. If you can feel your nose starting to stop up us this and it provide you a lot of relief. This is a super low price point. Make sure if you are an allergy suffer that you keep a bottle of this stuff lying around your house.

It is close to an instant relief.

I repaired many bike punctures in my youth – always with success. This one was unsuccessful. It is just a one data point. And maybe I did not get the tube clean enough. But it may be that the glue is not as good as it used to be (what I suspect).

The patches are also much thinner than they used to be, which could matter for a large puncture. But mine was just a pin hole size, so patch thickness not the issue.

I bought this to keep with my bike for tire repair on the road. The size is perfect for emergencies and takes up very little space. Fortunately, I haven’t needed it yet but I feel prepared for when I do.

If you follow the instructions it says nothing about waiting for the rubber glue to dry, but that’s a step you must do for a good bond. My kit was nearly fully used, and I was frustrated as I needed to get a tube repaired, I watched a YouTube video which suggested to leave the patch for 5min for the contact adhesive to dry, I did, next patch worked perfectly, where the previous ones just fell off after 5 min (if applied which glue was wet).

Wasted most of the pack but hopefully it helps you.

Used these before. Tried some from Wallyworld which lasted two days. Ordered these to replace. (Wally’s patches had no adhesive and were not rubber. ) These are easy to apply. I have tubes with two or three patches on them that are years and years old now.

What can anyone say about Rema patch kits other than they are the BEST!! I’ve been using them for more than 50 years. I’m in my 70’s.

These patches are not tube tape patches or self sticking. They are vulcanizing patches that don’t break loose when riding on a hot day or over bad roads. They are the only patches I trust on my sons BMX race bike when a new tube is not available.
