The lock looks very sturdy and is of a good build. It is long enough (185 cm) to wrap around most objects when out and about, also to lock two bikes together. The combination mechanism works smoothly.

The chain is actually thicker than in the description on this website – on the box it says 10mm and it looks like this, while it says 8 mm on bikeinn. com. So this was a positive surprise! You get a great value for your money.

When you buy a bicycle lock you need to make a decision: 1) Easier and simpler to use; OR 2) Extreme security (although a determined individual can get through anything) This specific sized product, I find is right in the middle.

My recommendation would be to get this product but get the next size down (12mm?) which would make it far easier to unwrap and place around a pole, etc. If you valued extreme security I would go to a larger size than this.

As for OnGuard’s mechanism it works fine for me. So yes I would recommend OnGuard Doberman Coil, but I would recommend the size below 15mm (for ease-of-use) or the size above (for extreme security). Cheers.

Lock looks reasonably sturdy to me. I suspect it would stop amateur thieves and slow down the more experienced ones long enough for my alarm to draw unwanted attention. Comes with a bracket you can attach to a bicycle making it easier to carry.

I am using it (with an alarm and another lock) on my Harley. Remember, the strategy is to make would be thieves look for easier pickings and leave your property alone. The longer it will take to steal your bike the more likely thieves will move on and look for an easier score.

I would rate it as good value.

This lock has been in use for my sons bike at his school. It allows him to put a little security on his bike without having a key to lose. It’s fine for this purpose. I haven’t tried, however I could probably whack it off with one of my hammers or chop it with my bolt cutters with very little effort.

So, better than a cable lock or nothing. It’s exactly what I thought it would be and I would buy it again.

It is the perfect size to lock my front wheel on my motorcycle and make it harder to steal. It is a high quality product. The red color makes me notice it better and reminds me to remove it. Did not need the cable and did not order it.

For the price you get a lot of lock, and although I was unable to use the combi cable lock due to my inability to set it, I gave them a higher rating due to their customer service. Even though I used a screwdriver with different heads and pestered my neighbor we were unable to reset it (not the U lock which was quite easy to reset).

The company responded very quickly to my email and said they would send me another one preset but unable to wait I had already ordered another brand, so due to the price and the response of the company I would say order it but just ask them to preset it.

I used the lock set traveling to and from a biking event in Pennsylvania. It was mainly to secure the bike to my bike hitch so I could feel secure when I made stops along the 9 hour road trip from SC to PA.

With the bike mounted on the Yakima rack, I put the U-shaped portion through the rear wheel and across the main metal upright of the bike body. I placed one cable loop in the U and closed the open end with the locking bar.

Then ran the other end of the 4 ft cable through the front wheel securing the second cable loop directly to the safety chain attachment point welded to the hitch assembly, using a heavy duty padlock.

Worked like a charm!.

The lock is built well and seems to be tough. My biggest complaint with it is that it is very touchy to get locked successfully. The key has to be in it and turned just the right way with very little deviation for the locking mechanism to engage.

When you are trying to secure your bike at an angle, it’s a little bit too much trouble and kinda becomes this whole ordeal. I would like to see this same lock designed with a better locking mehanism.

I bought this lock because it is rated as Sale Safe Gold and my insurance company demand I use this standard lock. The u-shape is quite long and enables you to lock the frame and any wheel, or lock the frame to an “immovable object” (again, as insurance demands!).

However, beware, when you get the packaging, it says on it that the cable supplied is NOT gold rated – which means if use it to secure the bike to your immovable object, the insurance company have a way to deny a claim.

Beware. One last point, Krypton Locks have a free key registration and replacement service. Handy. They also offer an limited insurance for a small fee if your bike is stolen because somebody cracked the lock.

Not clear what happens if the lock is stolen with the bike!.

I really like the quality of this lock. The combination wheels are smooth and robust and don’t allow wood-be thieves to pull the lock to find the right combination. The light is a great idea so you can see the combination wheels at night.

My only drawback comment, and it isn’t a fair one really, is that the tension in the steel cable does make it hazardous to uncoil from the bike because it always tries to twang back and can do so with some venom.

Be careful! But that aside it is one of the best locks I’ve used.

I bought this lock recent and this has enabled me to secure 4 bikes together with a little stretch but this secures 3 adult bikes very comfortably. The quality is excellent. I would recommend this.

It looks really reliable.

I purchased the long length chain for use with my motorbike. Ideal size to go through rear wheel and over seat. Chain looks and feels heavyweight and good quality, with a sleeve over to protect paint / bodywork.

Only criticism of the sleeve is the velcro tab at each end to keep it in place doesnt really do the job – keeps undoing, but no big deal as it’s not going to go anywhere. The chunky small D lock won’t allow much space for any prising tools with the chain locked through.

Comes with plenty (5) of quality lock keys – the main one with a built in light – great for the dark nights / mornings now. The lock opens and closes easily. It is not spring loaded, so you need to positively lock the bar back on again, but cannot remove your key without doing so in any case.

Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is I dont know if it will withstand an attack. Hope not to be tested either, but would highly recommend, and good value too. A small keeper bag would be a nice addition to the kit.

First and most importantly this is not an “urban” security level lock and if that is what you are looking for go for something with a much higher securty score from Abus. I do love Abus locks and have an urban U-lock as well for that purpose.

The is a great lock for a back-up on a solo ride where you may need to run in somewhere (like a quick bathroom break or to buy snacks) ideally only in a low risk area. Great to bring when you aren’t planning on locking up anywhere so don’t want to bring your heavy weight lock.

The strap/frame mount works great and holds welll just using the included strap. The only knock I have is that it rattles a bunch if you want to carry it without the included carrier/mount. In a backwards way that is a huge compliment to the carrier that keeps it perfectly quiet.

This isn’t anything a simple strap could help so not a huge issue.

Mounted the Bordo 5700 uGrip on my road bike, went out for a ride and two things happened: 1) It rattled over every bump and 2) I bunny hopped to get over a puddle and the center bars popped out of the holder.

The holder has a spring loaded clamp (uGrip) and while it held secure, it doesn’t encircle the bars. The lock was still attached, but the clamp arms only hold the bars on the outside of the folded unit—The inner bars can pop out if jarred.

I also discovered that this unit has one fatal and absolutely unacceptable flaw—it can be opened in literally two seconds with a metal shim. Discovered that fact on the Lock-Picking Lawyer’s YouTube channel.

Returned this lock after one use.

When you have a good bike, you have to buy a good lock. And this is it. Easy to store. Works in cold and wet conditions (thank you West Coast Canada for real life experience here) A great piece of gear that hopefully will last a long time.

Decent lock, haven’t had it for too long but a similar product I’ve had from same brand had the plastic degrade a little bit in the sun, making it look like an easy target for theft attempt. Not sure if it’s a pro but I found so far you can’t remove the key until you have it locked again.

I have two of these and they are excellent for the price. One of them was reluctant to unlock but this was down to a little ‘flash’ left on the keys where they had been cut – this took literally a couple of seconds to remove with a fine screwdriver and all good after that.

Really good, well made, the weather proof shroud is a good idea. The lock looks very secure anti tampa proof. Good value quick collection could’nt be happier.

guess i shouldn’t of bought the cheapest one they have. rode down to the hardware store and went to unlock it( i had it wrapped around the seat tube) and when i did it just fell apart, all the rings and numbers just slid off.

Bought this chain for my moped, it works fine and has a good amount of length, so I can attach it to almost anything. Wraps around the frame easily for storage, and comes off easily. I dont know if Id trust it alone in a downtown type area but it works fine on its own in more suburban areas.

For best security use along with a fork lock and/or a disc lock, and run it through the back wheel as well as the frame. Locking mechanism seems secure enough but is cast metal, not steel, so thats definitely the weakest point.

I like the warding shroud on the lock mechanism.

This bike lock is one I’d trust to protect my bike in the most crime-ridden parts of my town–for at least a few minutes, anyway. In normal places, where bike thefts do occur even though you feel safe walking around, this lock will defeat virtually all thieves.

Be sure to run the chain through your rear wheel* and the around the seat tube if your bike has one and then chain it to an immovable and cut-proof object. A lot of professional thieves use electric cut-off saws and if they can easily defeat a cable lock or a U-lock, they can certainly cut through a metal sign post if your bike is worth having.

*Unfortunately there isn’t enough chain length to go through the front wheel also, so you will have to take it off (if it has a quick-release skewer) and put it along side the rear wheel where you can run the chain through both your rear and front wheel and around the frame member (seat tube, or.

). This chain is heavy and bulky. There’s no getting around it. You have to be prepared to compromise the increased security with the fact you will be carrying around a heavy chain while your riding.

If the Mastiff chain lock was lighter and still as effective, it would have to be made out of unobtainium and therefore cost more than your whole bike–even if you have a bike with a frame made out of unobtainium.

Its a very good and sturdy lock. The part that holds it onto the bike came undone though and kept sliding about, I wasn’t able to put the lock on it without it falling onto my tire, I ended up losing the lock cause of this so make sure you keep that attachment tight!.
