20 Best Bike Helmet For Men (2023 Updated)

Personally, I’m not a big fan of cycle helmets. Most of them make you look like you have an upturned potty on your head. However, having a bit of sleek style and a peak at the front, a helmet can look great! Oh, and the all black colour helps to keep your street cred! This is lightweight, looks the biz and I’m sure if I fall off my bike at 20+ miles an hour, my head will not be damaged as I will probably land directly on my face.

Anyway, definitely recommended because your mushy brain is actually you. and you need protecting.

At 47 I still forget that you get what you pay for. This helmet looked ok and at just $18 I couldn’t pass it up. When it came I immediately realized it was terrible. It felt very light which is good but it also felt very cheap.

When I put it on it made me appreciate all the other helmets I’ve owned over the years and how comfortable THEY were. Don’t waste your money on this one.

Overall, it works good. The sound quality is better than I expected. It connects well and stays well with my iphone 8. However, the connection to my Macbook Pro is unstable. It continues to be disconnected from my mac.

I am pleased with this helmet. It seems well made, fits snugly, although not too tight and is all around comfortable. The blue color goes well with my bike and the flashing light on the back is a great bonus! Affordable price as well.

I would give it 5 stars if it was made in America.

How on earth has someone at Lazer allowed this helmet to be mass produced to the market!? Surely the Quality Control team should be checking before releasing to market? The helmet itself is absolutely top rate.

It’s good quality and a great fit. The integral light however is a complete shambles. Firstly, to switch it on you have to find a 10mm wide gap inside the top of the helmet and locate the button which is about 30mm deep, and to make it a bit harder the button is a side push so you have to waggle your finger around.

If your fingers are the width of a pencil you’ll find this easy but for the rest of us it’s an awkward pain. The battery will apparently last for 5. 25 hours in still mode and to recharge it you have to physically rip the inside of the helmet out.

The instructions say “The head basket will detach from the helmet if you pull it hard enough. ” which I don’t like the sound of in something that’s supposed to save your life! The head basket is secured by about 10 plastic ball & socket “poppers” that I’m sure will snap or wear down over a short period.

To remove the light unit for charging you have to use a pen (or narrow finger) to push the unit out from where it’s embedded in the helmet. When charged you have to put it in and refit the head basket, making sure to reconnect the plastic popper fixings.

Make sure you line the webbing of the helmet straps up on the right side of the poppers or it will not sit properly and I suspect could detach the head basket on impact, which is not good at all. Lastly, the LED light is brighter inside the helmet than it is outside! This is due to the LED not sitting inside the plastic diffuser tube.

This is how it comes out of the box and I’ve only got as far as trying to remove the basket before giving up. This helmet is going straight back to Halfords for a refund. What a complete waste of time and money.

I love my new Sphere MIPS helmet, which I use for road, gravel, and commuting. I use another helmet for trail riding, with more back coverage and a visor. Pros: The aesthetics and design are clean and minimalist.

The fit is airy, comfortable, and light: I barely know it’s there when riding. The under chin straps are easy to tighten, unlike my other helmet. Cons: The strap ends flap annoyingly in the wind if not tucked into a side strap, as there is no “strap keeper” or chin pad.

The chin strap buckle is small and a bit flimsy, meaning you have to take care to align the two ends and can’t always easily click it together. There is no visor. The adjustable cradle dial is easy to max out before the helmet is completely tight fitting, meaning most of the “snugging” is done with the chin strap.

The cons are mostly nitpicks; this is a great helmet and I would buy it again.

The helmet is small profile, fits round shaped heads, nice looking and got good crash test ratings from Virginia Tech. I also like how little wind noise it has. I was surprised because I read some reviews that claim a high level of wind noise.

But my experience is this is the quietest helmet I’ve used. I also have a rounder shaped head and very few helmets fit me properly so I usually have to size up and wear large. But the medium fit me perfectly.

My main complaint about the helmet is that I mainly mountain bike and the Lazer dial at the top of the helmet just doesn’t tighten down enough to keep the helmet from shifting around on my head while hitting bumps and drops on singletrack.

The dial also feels notchy when turning it. Overall, I’d say the helmet is one of the best for road riding but for mountain biking, something that tightens down more would be better.

I was the owner operator of a pro road bike shop in the SF/Bay Area for 20 years and sold and stocked Giro helmets when they first entered the market. This unit replaces my 20 plus year old Giro helmet from the late 90’s that was Giro’s top of the line model at that time.

This Helios is a huge step up in comfort, fit, vetilation and ease of fitting! I had the Helios on my head and adjusted perfectly in about 5 minutes and ready for my first ride. It was so light and comfy could hardly tell I was wearing a helmet! Love it!.

I started cycling one year ago and have now cycled 3,200 miles. I am now at a turning point where I learned this past month how to clip into my pedals and have been practicing on paved trails. Now that I am ready to transition back to the main road, clipped in, I wanted the most secure helmet I could find on the market so I purchased this helmet.

It is comfortable out of the box and I hope to never find out how the spherical technology works. I trust the Giro brand. They make helmets for skiing and cycling, two riskiest sports. **Update** I have worn this helmet a couple times and find it super comfortable.

I enjoy cycling and whenever outside riding I always wear a MIPS helmet that is fewer than 5 years old (to avoid dealing with potential degradation to the helmet liner from heat/UV over time). One of my helmets aged out, and I bought this one.

Another well-fitting with good ventilation while cycling and one that handles my sweating while riding well.

Love this helmet! Had serious issues with drivers not seeing me, but now I feel much safer. The helmet is super light and comes with an app to change the blinking patterns if you want to. Bought for the winter days when it gets dark early.

Did not waste my money on this.

I purchased the Giro Switchblade MIPS Bike Helmet with a removable Jaw in Matte Iceberg Reveal Camo in August 2020. While shopping online the blue looked more like an aqua color but I still love the bright blue color and lime green accents.

It gets lots of compliments & the helmet has an overall matte look and feel to it which I love as well. I wanted this so I could have a full face available on hand at all times for park riding or more aggressive days.

I do feel much safer wearing a full face when doing downhill and when approaching features that scare me. It feels pretty lightweight on and fits like a glove, only gets a little claustrophobic while pedaling uphill sometimes but that’s expected with a full face.

The removable jaw is easy to put on and take off after practicing once or twice its a breeze. It also comes with an extra visor witch has a go pro attachment! I haven’t used the go pro attachment yet but definitely plan to.

I am STOKED with my purchase and would highly recommend this helmet to anyone curious about Giros removable jaw helmets. Five stars all around from this happy rider living in the hot dry Southwest!.

The helmet is a great value; it was on sale, so, $250 would be in a different group of comps. The fitment is spot on; after purchasing the 44mm cheek pads. Note that it comes with 40mm and if that is too tight, then get the 44mm pads; I know that sounds backwards but its correct.

Anyway, I live in the south, so, i’m waiting for late fall to use it at a couple of TN bike parks.

I love the colorway on the orange/yellow/blue helmet. It has MIPS so my brain should be as safe as can be. It is really nice to have removable foam liners so I can dab off the sweat or clean them. The fit is great and I love the strap, it feels much more secure than a plastic clip, and it doesn’t have that tendency to loosen like my regular XC helmet does.

Even though it is heavier than the XC helmet, it still feels light on trails and feels good on jumps. The MIPS does cause the helmet to have a bit of a squeak to it when you shift it around on your head with your hands.

The helmet does tend to get warm. But I have climbed about 1000 feet with it on during a late summer day at Post Canyon on some fire roads. My sunglasses tend to fog up with the helmet when I’m sitting still.

When you are moving, there is decent airflow and you won’t notice the heat. I fell on one of my last trips up which left my leg pretty banged up. I clipped my bars on a rocky/clay dirt wall, my bike turned into it, and I slid what would have been my face on the wall.

The helmet chin bar saved me and I couldn’t be happier to have this full face safety. I would recommend this helmet.

This is the 2nd one I?ve owned. I?ve tried others like it and this one feels the best. It?s the most comfortable and lightest. You can barely tell it?s on your head and it makes me look even more sexier if thats even Possible.

It comes with extra padding so you can dial it in to fit your head perfect. I haven?t crashed it yet so I can?t tell you how protective it is but it?s very comfortable. To be honest, I rarely buy Fox racing products.

I?ve had issues with their quality and their customer service in the past. This is really the only product I buy from them anymore. And I?ll do it until I can find a better one.

Tried three times to get this helmet sent to me without cracks coming from the strap attachment where the rivet attaches the strap to the rear of the helmet. The plastic shell is very thin and is apparently quite weak as pressing a rivet through it cracks the plastic shell enough that the strap can come loose.

Glad I never had to find out if it would protect my head during a crash. Fox customer service (which was awesome btw,) tried to help me by sending two other helmets each of which was cracked in the same place when I opened them.

I decided to give up on this helmet and get refunded until Fox fixes what is clearly a manufacturing defect in this model of helmet.

I bought this helmet for my son. He says it fits well and is light and comfortable. The vents create airflow over his sweaty head. Can’t beat the price. Comes with an extra set of pads which is also nice.

I am very pleased with this purchase so far and here is my summary: Fit: Using a flexible tailor’s tape measure. I measured the circumference of my head before purchase as 58cm. Given that the Livall MT1 supplied is rated as “large” at 58cm-62cm, I was a bit worried that it would be too large.

I needn’t have been concerned; one simply mounts the helmet at its widest setting and then tightens it up with the aid of Livall’s rear adjustment knob, after which it was appropriately snug & secure.

Pros: Value, facilities (embedded safety lights, direction indicators, integrated speakers for audio on the go, bluetooth connection to remote and phone), sunlight visor, handlebar remote, usb charging on helmet, phone app for linking up with other cyclists in your area & calculating distances travelled as well as changing some minor functionality on helmet etc.

Cons: Handlebar remote (BR80 model) is not rechargeable, speaker bass is poor when playing music, no product replacement scheme in the event of accident damage, emergency crash detector not supplied as implied through specification.

Best features – Ease of securely tightening and embedded LED safety indicators.

The helmet is an excellent fit and very comfortable. Everything worked well initially but the lights are not really bright enough. The remote attached to the handlebar failed after only a few uses so advised customer services and, to be fair, they sent a replacement remote out straight away.

Unfortunately it has failed again but may just require a new battery although it shouldn’t really after such a short time! Really quite disappointed in something that was quite expensive (£70) and really doesn’t work as it was advertised.

Bought this as a good value second hemet and was intrigued by the clever blue tooth capability. Loved the rear lights included in the hemet itself but sadly it didn’t fit. Very tight front to back and generously wide in the middle.

Tried it for one ride thinking it would be OK, but I should have trusted my initial feeling that my head shape and the helmet were incompatible. Shame.

i have to admit that I really had some trouble in the past with helmets. didn’t matter which one I had, they were just ugly, uncomfortable and felt heavy. I cycle a lot daily in the streets of Berlin and I know how important it is to constantly wear a helmet.

That’s why I’m so happy I found this one. I’ve never had a helmet more comfortable than this one, it’s a nice fit, doesn’t make your head look super big, it’s light on the head, it’s good air circulation and the straps are a really soft material! My recent helmet had kind of hard straps for closing the helmet which were always scratching and never on the right place.

That’s why I’m so happy to have this little guy now, which is also a really nice eye catch!.

I love this helmet and fundamentally it’s amazing. It looks awesome and is so incredibly comfy with no adjustment needed after the initial setup unlike all other helmets, just slide it on and go. My one and only gripe which is why it’s not 5 stars is that there is a lack of places to store my sunglasses if I don’t want to wear them.

The only place I’ve found is on the vents at the top. This makes the sunglasses point straight up and I wouldn’t trust having them there at speed as they’d probably get caught in the wind without me knowing.

Other than that I cannot fault it!.

Picked up this mainly because I couldn’t fit my skull into the POC Tectal/Kortal – the DRT5 has a wider and shallower shape which, for the same M size, gives me plenty of adjustment to wear over both short and grown-out hair as well as a thin beanie where the POC helmets were far too tight on the temple at the loosest setting.

The finish is beautiful (matte black, but also tried desert and olive) but the matte feels like it’ll show marks easily as with all things matte. No biggie for me as I like the ‘lived-in’ look. The big sellers here are the glasses holder and sweat channels – both work as advertised although it can be fiddly to get narrower glasses into the holder, but once they’re in they stay put.

The sweat channeling band works great but does leave a long-lasting imprint on the forehead – fortunately it comes with a swappable foam band for using on cooler days so I can swap the silicone one in and out as required.

Weight is a bit on the heavy side, would prefer 80-100g less, but it’s fine for enduro and builds your neck muscles! Wouldn’t use on XC or all-day non-stop riding though. Ventilation is also ok, but you will always be balancing venting against protection so I prefer the added protection.

Overall great bit of kit, looks *chefs kiss*, some neat features but really only worth paying full price if you dig the aesthetics and it fits better than the competition.

Please remember that FIT is more important for helmets than any other gear. If it fits, wear it. Traditionally, Bell and Fox have fit better than GIRO for me, your mileage may vary. Features – BOA ratchet – nice and non-intrusive.

I do note the lack of big plastic head holders along/behind the ear that are usually part of the fitment system for a lid. Adjustment is good, feels good on the trail. Silicone sweat gutter/pad/thing – so far, so good.

Coming into the sweaty season now. Running just this up front and one pad at the top. I do notice that there is more sweat shaking out of the helmet in general than with the usual padded setups, and the habit of stopping to “juice” the helmet pads yields nada.

It feels fine on the forehead and keeps sweat off the brow for the most part, but I think I have more sweat drip down from other areas of the helmet Removeable GoPro Mount – OH SNAP, $200 lid doesn’t have it.

-1 star, because this is great for night riding setup. Glasses holder – Sillyness, but justifies OAKLEY’s move into the helmet world. I don’t anticipate ever finding this feature useful, but I’m open to change.

MIPS – this works, their implementation seems to be on par with other MFGs. Overall, this lid fits my head well. Airflow is as expected, visor feels quality, and I guess I’ll be sticking a gopro sticky mount to the top.

Recently purchased this helmet on sale, which was a major factor. I have no complaints so far. Some gripe about only 12 vents. To me I instantly felt the breeze on my forehead and during the ride didn’t even notice the temp of my head.

I have a 56cm head with a buzzcut and purchased the medium. The helmet fits comfortably despite minimal padding. If you don’t like the silicon sweat squeegee, Oakley includes a traditional pad to switch it out.

I did use the glasses clips the first time out, but they seem gimmicky. Again, Oakley provides rubber plugs to replace the clips if you want to remove them. I found the weight to be noticeable in my hands but not on my head.

That said, no other helmet feels as solid as this one! The visor especially, exudes quality. It easily finds the intended position and doesn’t move during rides. I’m confident this helmet keeps me safe.

Other features are there to use them if you want, but Oakley gives you options if you don’t. The helmet even comes with a mesh bag that keeps out bugs or dust as it hangs in the garage.

This is a great helmet. I’d give it 5+ stars except for one quibble. The HYPRVIZ color looks like a day-go/fluorescent yellow in the photo. But the photo misleads. This may seem like a nit pick, but a big part of bike safety is being seen so that cars don’t clobber you.

So for me, I set style aside and go for fluorescent colors. And when the photo looks bright yellow and its described as HYPRVIZ, I don’t expect to receive a dull greenish-yellow helmet. It isn’t even as bright as a nice bright yellow non-fluorescent color.

To be fair, nothing says day-glo or fluorescent even if the labeling and photo suggest it. But not having a fluorescent color as an option on safety gear like a bicycle helmets seems like a serious oversight to me.

I understand that many people care more about style, and that’s fine. But for those of us that care about visibility, HYPRVIZ really should be the fluorescent color, high visibility option.

As mentioned in at least one other comment, the back straps are not adjustable. However, I read the instructions and kept the forehead portion low, tightened the chin strap to the degree indicated, and the back straps had very little sag.

I think it would fit better if the back straps had 1-2cm of adjustability, but the retainer on the back can be tensioned to control what the back straps are not. I noticed that if I pushed the helmet around a little, then checked the tension of the chin strap and rear retainer tension, I could snug them up more and not be too tight.

This made the helmet have very little movement. I am lucky enough to keep my hair cut really short and this helps with locking the helmet into place well. I tried it with and without a cycling cap. Without fits better.

The brow sweat band is definitely noticeable in its size and location on your forehead. The tip of the helmet extends out far enough that it almost creates a visor effect. With the cap on, I couldn’t flip the visor up when I was in a crouched position descending at speed.

I generally like a cap as to keep bees and bugs from lodging in my head through the vents. Will probably have to get one of those lycra head caps to absorb sweat and keep bugs from burrowing into my scalp.

AS I am getting older, having a high ranking on the crash charts was important. Ventilation has never been a priority as I have always thwarted it with the cap underneath anyway. This helmet is heavier than my old Garneau by close to an ounce.

I will be looking at the Eschelon II for my open road rides, and will use this for my rail-trail, mtb and gravel road adventures where the more upright riding position will limit the neck strain of the heavier helmet.

I purchased three of these for our family. Because of styrofoam degassing, helmets have to be replaced every few years. Ours were overdue at 5 to 6 years old each. What’s to like? They have MIPS and are one of the highest rated helmets for safety when tested by Virginia Tech.

My helmet both adjusts more snuggly and is more comfortable on my head. The helmet tilt is non adjustable. Which is good because I had to frequently readjust it on my old helmets because – over time – my forehead would become more exposed.

This helmet comes in a lot of different colors. Everyone in my family got to pick out a bright color that is visible (my small gripe is that the blue is very dark. So, my wife and son couldn’t pick out their favorite colors).

The extra large actually fit my big head. Lastly, it is very reasonable priced. According to Virginia Tech as of today’s date, you can not buy a safer bike helmet for anything remotely close to this price point.

Because of COVID, I ordered these without trying them on first. And they fit well. I use mine for commuting to work year around. It’s a great helmet.

This is one of the best bang for your buck helmets in terms of price and protection. The colors/pattern are also super attractive and slick making anyone look just a little bit more like they know what they’re doing.

I read several other reviews saying to size up 1-2 sizes because it runs small and I completely agree. I bought the large as a gift for someone who is progressing to more technical (and therefore dangerous) rides and needed a more substantial helmet but doesn’t want to look like a safety nerd with a big ugly noggin protector.

He typically wears a medium in most brands and with the normal pads right out of the box the temple area was a really tight and uncomfortable squeeze. Swapping it out for the (included) extra set of thinner pads worked perfectly for a more comfortable but still protective fit, but it was still close.

I probably could’ve bought an XL and used the thicker pads for a similar fit. Overall, recipient seemed stoked!.

I’ve bought several bike helmets, and this is my co-favorite. First reason, it was ranked among the safest helmets in the Virginia Tech study, which seems to be the most carefully designed and executed test of bike helmets I’ve seen.

Second, it is one of a very few I’ve found with a visor long enough to offer some protection against being blinded by the sun in the late afternoon hours when I prefer to ride. Third, I think it looks good.

The orange is really bright and is a more effective high-viz color than the yellow-green standard in warm weather because it’s a better contrast with the lush greenery in my riding environment. Like most helmets, it’s rather minimally padded, and I had to stick on a couple of small pads to cover the plastic rivets that anchor the MIPS liner, since they created pressure points against my buzz cut head.

I’ll probably add some padding in a couple other places, but other than that, I’m satisfied with the helmet.

Bought this helmet with high hopes and it’s just okay. Would defiantly not get the pro model again, the upgrades are not needed one bit in my opinion. The pads inside are absolutely garbage! I have had the helmet for less than 2 months and have already destroyed both forehead pads that came with the helmet.

They are made with two pieces of material glued together with an inferior glue. Rather than making a product that will last fox chooses to make a product that looks cool. One side of the pad adheres to the Velcro while the other side is made to look like carbon fiber.

Long story short both have been completely destroyed and I am now using one of my pads fro the top of my head to keep velcro off my forehead. I am very careful and tidy with my riding kit. This is the only helmet I have ever had that has had this problem.

Fox needs a better design or needs to have many more pads come with the helmet.

I purchased this helmet last December after reading a review at MTBR. The Helmet is light, its unique magnetic system for setting up and alignment of the chin bar piece makes it quite easy to lock in place.

The Helmet is airy with great visuals with a full face on, and I can already say it provides excellent protection. On a fall after a ramp jump, a twisted landing, the helmet took most of the force of impact away without leaving any marks on me or pain, or later any sign of injury afterward.

The fit is tight but comfortable. The only drawback, is I wanted another color, but now is hard to get lost with this bright red. You can find cheaper options, but as a dual helmet it fits the bill to perfection.

This is my second attempt to buy a Met parachute mcr helmet. I am exactly between the sizes M and L, the M was tight on my temples. But this L is great. Although the boa wheel is a bit tight, the helmet fits.

In the half-shell position, it is a little unstable and floats on the head, as a full-face it fits perfectly. I have to pick up the boa system and the magnetic buckle. I’m still getting used to the MCR system.

We will see how it will sit with sunglasses as well as DH glasses.

This helmet is so good I’m looking at getting a second one just in case it’s discontinued, which would be crazy! Comfortable, extremely well ventilated, light and easy to adjust to fit perfectly. I was initially removing the chin bar to stop crushing my ears every time I took it off but have recently discovered that by just loosening the locking screws at the side it goes on and comes off perfectly.

Magnetic chin strap locking mech is awesome. Great helmet.

Overall a pretty good and safe-feeling helmet. I like how it fits further down on my head than other road style helmet. The ventilation is pretty good, could be better. If I stay standing still long enough mid-ride, sweat will escape the padding and drip into my eyes (I’m a particularly sweaty individual).

As far as fit goes, I have a larger head (~61cm) so I ordered the largest size and he just barely fits with the adjustment rolled out all the way. I’ll also say it does fit my ponytail real nice!.

So far so good, I have done about 30 miles wearing it. Nice ventilation, it fits perfectly. I was afraid of the size bc they come in combined size; I ordered an L/XL. I have to say that it is not as big as other companies that have this type of sizing, so I’m very happy about that too.

I bought this helmet 3 weeks ago, got accident recently. Lucky enough no injuries. Sustained the impact for head injuries. Excellent product.

My only obstacle with this fabulous safety solution is finding a convenient spot on my ebike handlebars where I can easily access the indicator left turn right turn mechanism either from the supplied remote or phone app.

Maybe they should include sensors where you just tilt your head in the direction you’re turning and the indicator flashes. It already has the capability to detect breaking without the need for a button to be pressed.

Excellent helmet. Good fit and includes Lights on the back and front. I always appreciate any safety features.

Loved the front and back lights, Lightweight. The SOS feature is the icing on the cake.
