20 Best Big Green Egg Thermometer (2023 Updated)

I recently bought an Akorn Kamado Kooker, and was advised I could only master it with a reliable remote thermometer. My nephew Chad, also a competition BBQ guy, said the TP-20 was the bomb, so I got one as soon after assembling the Akorn as possible.

Now I’ll be the first one to say that labeling the Akorn Kamado as the gold standard is conditional on one’s ability to achieve temperature equilibrium. I’ve known others who bought and sold their Akorn Kamado in short order when they were not able to achieve said equilibrium.

I had a good advisor and I’m Irish, so I conquered it the second time around. But this review ain’t about Akorns, it’s about the TP-20, but the background is cogent. Successful operation of the Akorn might be possible without the TP-20, but I’d never try it.

Now I’ve got enough experience smoking boston butts that I didn’t really need a remote probe in the meat, but having one measuring internal Akorn temp was the difference between success and failure. On the TP-20, you can click Mode until ‘Oven’ is an option.

I picked that and hung the remote probe through the upper damper first time around and got skewed results, no doubt because the probe tip was touching the inside of the Kooker. I-Tronics includes a right angled stainless steel clip that I didn’t and couldn’t determine its function until I reread the User Manual and found an obscure reference to ‘clipping the probe to the cooking grate.

‘ The clip has holes in both sides that perfectly accommodates the probe above the grate. Second time around I was able to control the internal cooking temperature at +/- 15 degrees of 250 degrees for nine hours, opening the lid only once at the six hour mark to wrap the butts in foil.

I probably made a half dozen upper damper adjustments over the nine hours to thwart temp rises or drops, but the accuracy of the TP-20 allowed me to do that on a timely basis-obviating panic attacks when you’re caught sliding sideways.

I gave the TP-20 5 stars based on ease of use, decipherable operating instructions and pinpoint accuracy. The freaking butts became the tender smoked pulled pork I was accustomed to. The WiFi coverage of 400 feet allowed me free range around the house with the receiver unit.

At $54 plus shipping it’s a bargain IF you want to upgrade your slow smoker to an Akorn Kamado. No slaps at Char-Griller, the Akorn manufacturer, but if you’re serious about your BBQ, you ain’t relying on the thermometer integral to the Kooker.

I can guarantee you the TP-20 delivers, and they give a lifetime replacement warranty on the sensor tips, the most vulnerable aspect of the entire system!.

We grill a lot of fish in the summer, and lamb and beef during the winter. When grilling an expensive cut of meat, a Prime tenderloin for example, preserving the meat quality is imperative. A remote reading thermometer makes possible temperature monitoring while continuing to entertain guests.

Here in Alaska, it’s also often more comfortable to be inside rather than outside. All of these devices measure the temperature at the tip of metal probes, and transmit that temperature information to a receiver via a radio-frequency link.

This allows the user to remotely monitor the temperature at the probe tip. I researched these radio-frequency-based remote reading thermometers to replace a long-time device and chose the ThermoPro TP-20.

After thoroughly reading directions, I inserted the enclosed batteries (very convenient), inserted the two temperature probes, and the sender and receiver established a radio-frequency link, with no need for my assistance.

The two probes showed the same temperature probes provided the same temperature value, a quick check that the device was calibrated. I’ve not owned a dual probe remote thermometer before, but I used them both as I monitored the two ends of a 6-pound tenderloin.

My family has rare-meat lovers and well-done lovers, and being able to monitor the thin and thick ends of the tenderloin allowed me to adjust the various heat sources on a gas grill. I usually use a charcoal grill and don’t have the ability to control the heating to this degree, but it’s still a useful piece of information.

Of course I log the data, so the temperature differential will also be interesting to log. When planning a meal, it’s useful to know that a 6-pound tenderloin, cooked on gas, with the meat at this temperature and outside temperature at that value, will require 1:30 to cook.

The manufacturer claims that the sender and receiver will communicate over a 300-ft maximum distance, a distance that I did not measure, but it certainly worked well through a 120-foot distance and through heavy plaster walls.

I am very impressed with that performance. The receiver, the controller of the system, has pre-sets for FDA-approved cooking temperatures for a wide range of likely-to-be-grilled foods. Although I didn’t use the feature, the device also allows one to set other temperatures, instead.

One can change from Fahrenheit to Celsius degrees, as well as access a timer and other features. Read the directions!Directions are easy to follow. The device was well-packaged, and included everything as advertised.

It’s easy to use and provides accurate temperature information. My first use was for an almost-two-hour grilling of a tenderloin cooked over gas. I enthusiastically recommend this device.

I purchased this remote thermo because it lacked the significant percentage of negative reviews of other popular ones. Very pleased with this product. Works as advertised. Pairs without problems (many report problems with others).

Great tool which allows you to accurately hit finishing temps without opening the BBQ and losing heat. Lots of pros already posted in reviews, so below are some of my cons:- Biggest: Temp settings increment up only.

Inconvenient, esp if you overshoot your target temp and have to wrap all the way around again. – Alarm icons are small and its easy not to notice you dont have the alarm on- Oven high temp alarm cannot be set to low temps.

For example, when cold smoking cheese, I want to know if temp exceeds 150F. no can do. – Curved food probe. Not sure why they do this, but can make it inconvenient to position inside BBQ and to stow.

– Probe connections not marked to indicate which port is for food probe and which for BBQ probe. Minor, but inconvenient first few times as you have to look at product image to see which port to use.

– On/Off button on remote is easily activated with just a light quick touch. can turn on easily in storage or off accidentally. – Multi function buttons are not intuitive as some functions not labelled on them.

It would be a great enhancement to be able to save alarm profiles and recall them later. For example, save a profile for a food type (brisket, ribs, fish, cheese. ) and then recall it later rather than having to set it all up manually again (with that inconvenient increment only navigation).

Update March 8, 2016:Still very pleased with this product after many uses. Updated info re temp ranges:At least on the unit I have, documemted temp range settings vary from actual. Table below shows documented vs actual respectively.

Food HI: 32 – 572F, 32 – 573FBBQ HI: 140 – 572F, 227 – 573FBBQ LO: 32 – 554F, 225 – 349FMy personal preference would not be to have arbitrary ranges, but allow the full range of temps from at least 0 – 575F.

This would make the device more flexible and allow me to set whatever values are appropriate for what Im trying to do. For example, the BBQ temp ranges on my device make it useless for cold smokingA question was asked regarding using for beer brewing (on model 07, but my response below pertains to the 08).

There are applications where this device could be used, especially if manufacturer would eliminate these arbitrary range limits. As is, only the “Food HI” range is relevant to brewing. For example, mash temps range from 145F to 165F so it could be used to monitor mash temps.

Fermentation temps range from about 32F to 65F so could be used for monitoring ferm temps too. Question for vendor, can I update the firmware on my device so it matches documented temp ranges? Better yet, can you supply a version that eliminates these arbitrary limits?December 2016 Update:One full year and still very pleased with this product.

Did have one temp probe go inaccurate on me. Bought a couple of replacement probes and so far no more failures. So, good to do occassional sanity checks on displayed temps to catch a malfunctioning probe.

It stays in the meat, even in 450 degree ovens. Liquid not a dial. Easy to read. Best part is the glass is covered by metal. Don’t dishwasher this. Heck, just wipe off the probe. The numbers might come off og the gauge if you get it wet.

But that’s ok, if you’re careful.

This thermometer is simple but sturdy will measure the temperature of water needed to proof your yeast. Well made and will last for many years with good care. A must baking tool for every bread baker.

The thermometer I received register to 180 The Taylor thermometer that I had register 185 for poultry not 165. I felt that I was sent the wrong thermometer. However, I received a refund from Walmart mail order and the person that help me was extremely professional and courteous.

My son loves his PK Grill. He received several items designed for the grill and is thrilled with the mountable thermostat! My father loved his PK Grill. I have fond memories of weekend dinners during my childhood in the 1960’s -1980’s I am amazed that my son inherited is love for the PK Grill even though he never had the opportunity to know his grandfather.

Fantastic thermometer, installation procedure was described perfectly. It’s a great addition to the PK grill, a thermometer is a necessity when smoking, grilling and BBQ’ing!

First use went well. Nice to have the heat info. Doesn’t replace a meat thermometer but can be used to judge approximate timing.

The display screen was defective, right out of the box. The numbers do not display properly. Even when I turned it off it would display lines here and there on the screen, randomly. The thermometer came with batteries, that had run out of power.

I had to replace them immediately for the thermometer to turn on. So disappointed! I was looking forward to a good digital thermometer and I trusted the brand. Unfortunately I did not keep the receipt, so I will more than likely throw it away.

Waste of money!.

after only 6 months of use, this thermometer gives an inaccurate reading. the reading is much higher than should be, which is really not good when cooking meats like we have been. we tested it in a cup of hot water and it read 260degF when it should be no more than 210degF if it were boiling, which it was not.

we will be returning or replacing this for another. this is really disappointing as we thought it was really something great how the thermometer can stay in the cut of meat while roasting or smoking to keep an eye on the temperature.

Had this for 2 years, bought at BB&B. The alarm is barely audible. Unless you literally stand right next to the oven you won’t hear it, even if you’re in the same room with it. Easy to overcook because of that, which defeats the purpose.

Mine recently broke anyway, didn’t read the meat temp correctly at all – so I got rid of it. OXO usually makes quality, dependable items so this is a real disappointment.

This thermometer is really easy to use. I bought it for my husband but I have ended up using it way more than him (as I worry about thicker meats when I’m cooking and hate cutting the meat before it’s ready).

I hated digging through all of his grill stuff to find it, but it was worth looking. Anywho, he ended up buying me one to keep in my kitchen and I use it lots. We both love this thermometer and both of ours has held up really good over the past few years.

The reason I am writing this review so many years later is because I learned something new about this thermometer the other day. Our Health thermometer died and I thought I had a temp so I used the grill thermometer on the “user” setting ( I thought it was kind of funny because the user was indeed taking their own temp).

It read my body temp like a regular thermometer. When I went to the doctor she thought I may have a low thyroid, so she scheduled a test for me, but told me in the meantime I could take my temp first thing in the morning before I get out of bed for 4 days and that I needed to use a basal thermometer (which I didn’t have) so I told her about my charbroil thermometer which she thought was a brilliant idea.

Lol anyway it’s a great thermometer for many reasons! That’s all folks :).

I set the user temp to 190 F so I can check my baked goods, especially loaves of bread. When the internal temp is 190 to 200 F, the bread is done. The long temp sensor will easily get to the center of a loaf.

I have been using this for about 3 years and cannot bake without it.

Both F-C temp readings. which is perfect for my Chemical photo lab applications. The machine measures everything out in Celsius so I use this to double check the actuals and verify the internal readings are accurate.

have tenth degree accuracy was critical for me and this nails it. Easy to operate, easy to read for these tired old eyes. I only with it auto shut off, some times I forget to turn it off. But I’m still on the original batteries.

It serves the purpose. barely. It is cheaply made. I later saw a better Taylor digital thermometer in the supermarket for a dollar less. Of course it was after I purchased this one. Because of the poor construction and the recent/current virus crisis I think I will look for American made products rather than Chinese manufactured ones.

Firstly , its a flimsy design. you constantly have to turn your phone on to monitor. I used it twice and the second time the fan in the module melted. its made of cheap plastic. its now useless. there is also no way to restrict the air more than the output size which leaves too much air in when smoking.

ive used the digi Q and that is far better fir about the same cost.

I bought this thermometer because I wanted to be able to check the ambient and meat temperature without having to open my smoker door. After about 2 hours of smoking a brisket I noticed the ambient temperature measured on the probe was about 50 degrees higher than my smokers thermometer.

I then checked the probe in my brisket against my instant read thermometer (which I know is accurate) and it was about 12 degrees higher. Please note this was only 2 hours into the cook. I can’t imagine how far off it would be if I left it in for the full 10 hour smoke.

Needless to say, I returned it. As the saying goes, “You get what you pay for”.

I bought other types of food thermometers before, but never this type! Wow, was missing out, big time! What a great investment, if you cook a lot or not! Temperature is extremely important to anything you cook: stove top, oven, grill, etc.

This allows me to leave the thermometer into the meat, bread, candy, etc. while they cook. It has an alarm that tell you when the ideal or pre-set temperature has been reached: you cannot miss it! It saved my salmon! If you don’t cook much – one more reason to buy this: it has temperature list on the side.

Comes in Celsius and Fahrenheit. Looking forward to more juice and moist foods! I totally recommend it! Great price too!.

For $12 it seems to do its job. Tested it with ice water and boiling water and it displayed 33F and 210F which is close enough. I used it on a turkey today using the poultry menu setting of 160F. When the temperature reached 160F it chimed to let me know my turkey was done.

I verified the meats internal temp with another meat thermometer. It covers a full range of meats and fish. It is simple to use. Insert the included batteries, plug in the probe, turn it on, pick your food item (or set you’re own temp) and you’re ready to go.

The probe is long enough to run from the meat in the oven to the display that sits on the adjacent counter top (just run the probe out of the oven and close the oven door on it). Also, the unit comes with a “No questions asked!” probe replacement for life.

We’ll see if they honor the offer of the free replacement probe if ever I need to request another. I, at this point, recommend.

This white thermometer by ThermoPro is large and sturdy enough to use as a meat fork as well as a temperature gauge. So far this works as advertised, easy to use, and as thermometers go, it’s pretty fast, though it will still take about 30 seconds to get a reading, but it’s a heck of a lot better than the minute or more needed by the old one I had.

The LCD screen is very legible and it does take fast readings and is certainly accurate enough for the purpose. I did find some of the advanced functions to be unnecessary. Besides that the idea behind a digital thermometer-cooking fork is to test meat while it is cooking to know if it is done enough to eat safely.

The fork, unlike digital probe thermometers, are used toward the end of the designated cooking time and are a simple way to know if the food is done. Furthermore its not waterproof and must be carefully hand washed to remove any food residue and potentially life-threatening microorganisms.

It is not sufficient to just wipe the stainless steel tines down with a paper towel and thats its. Food safety is important so handle with care. Aside from that its a great oven food thermometer.

I use to to cook my turkey for Thanks Giving and it worked great. just set the internal temperature on this item and it sends out a loud beeping to let you know your turkey or anything else you or cooking is ready.

It also has a timer built into it if you are cooking something for a certain amount of time to let you know it’s cooked. Great Buy for the money.

I use this for commercial use. For about a year I had issues with keeping a thermometer alive for longer than 3 months. Either something would break on the thermometer, it would get out of calibration, or the screen would stop working.

I tried the Javelin, and three years later i’m finally needing to get a replacement. This is after: The thermometer was dropped twice into deep fryers for at least 5 to 10 seconds, dropped into our sanitizing sink by accident, and some extreme wear and tear.

The only reason I’m getting a replacement? Battery cap was lost, and it was pretty beat up so it makes more sense to get a new one. Pros: 1. Folds easily and has a small footprint, 2. quick reads, 3.

very durable. 4. Great value for what you get. Cons: *Note: The two cons I have are not very annoying to me, but I figured they may bother others. 1. When it automatically turns off while opened you have to fold it back in and then open it up to use it, sometimes twice.

2. Sometimes switches to C automatically, but this only happened towards the end of life on the one I am replacing.

Just used it for the first time, my wife bought it for me as a gift. Timing couldn’t have been better, as I needed it for a Ninja Foodi roasted chicken. So glad I had this, because the temp was well below 165 (which I verified first with the test).

I really like how quickly it reads, how accurate it is (I tested several places on the chicken), and it’s even stylish (the purple). Plus you can put it on the fridge for storage, that’s really convenient.

And the anti-microbial probe is a bonus. Love it!.

This thermometer is wonderful. It works in seconds. I would have given it a 5 except for the tiny little instructions that came with it. Some people can not see that well like me.

Read through, you’ll get to the Termapen review. But I feel like I need to talk about this company I guess I now have a relationship with ThermoWorks. This relationship started with a ThermoPop, at the time I didn’t want to make an investment in the Thermapen.

The ThermoPop completely changed the way I cooked. I left it accidentally at a friends house that lives some distance away. I quickly realized I could not live without my ThermoPop and told my pal to keep that one and ordered another one express delivery, and it arrived in short order.

COVID happened soon after. When I felt the need to monitor body temps of my family and visitors to our home, I knew to turn to ThermoWorks and purchased The Wand body thermometer which is stupid fast, accurate and trusted in our family.

For Christmas, my wife gave me the Thermapen Mk4. I am absolutely in love with the auto light and auto rotate feature. I hosed down my grill and completely forgot my trusty Mk4 was still sitting right by it.

It took a good hosing, and works fine. I love that the Mk4 gives temps in real time. There is no waiting here folks, the temp will change on it constantly because it is constantly reading the correct temperature.

I now can not live without my Mk4. There is something to be said for a company that specializes in something and the excellence in ThermoWorks products shows it. Customer service is outstanding at ThermoWorks and you can rest assured that any order will be expertly packed and arrive soonest.

I also enjoy the catalogs and cooking tips included. There are cheaper options out there, but there are no better ones.

I tested a couple of other Instant Read Thermometers before the MK4 due to the fact that it was more expensive than the others. I should have just purchased this product in the first place. The others just took too long to read with my hand and arm over a hot grill or inside my Pit Barrel Cooker.

I’m new to the cooking and smoking scene so this is a vital tool for a great finished product. I use it now for everything, indoors and out. The backlit, rotating display has been big for smoking and cooking at night as the days get shorter in New England.

ThermoWorks also does a great job posting videos on YouTube and their Website to instruct users how to use it which was helpful because i’m a firm believer of reading the manual, no matter how simple we believe something to be.

This tech and design is just better than others. Spend the extra money on a Thermapen Mk4. You’ll save yourself the time of buying, trying, and returning others while being more precise during your cooks.

I use mine for my Pit Barrel when cooking everything from Brisket to wings. I don’t review products often, but this is worth writing a review for. I hope it helps those who are waffling, or are caught in the buy, try, return cycle.

UPDATE: After this review. Well, I like it but I’m not in love with it. I still want a more expensive one; however, it works. 1) Calibrate it before using it. Mine is about four degrees off. I found instructions for calibrating on the Internet.

I used boiling water and crushed ice water. Because I didn’t do this until after I cooked – I pulled the food too early. I should’ve trusted my experience — I could tell it was too early just by looking at it.

2) TOUGH cookie. It’s gotta be well made because I made a big goof. I packed to cook at someone else’s house and in haste forgot that I had stored this thermometer in the bottom of a roasting pan, below the rack.

Rack and turkey went into a 450 F oven. Soon, maybe less than 3 minutes, I heard “beep beep beep”, and to my horror I remembered it was my new thermometer IN the oven. We rushed to pull it out and the face of the thermometer was seriously blackened about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom.

I went on and forgot about it. 2 days later, I unpacked and found it. The screen was no longer black. I recalibrated it and it appears to be working just fine. WORKING! I’ll retest on next cook but I am so surprised and glad I did not throw it away.

3) I did have to change out the batteries after one use. Not surprised that the battery that comes with it didn’t last long. I’ve used four times since and even forgot and left it on for hours, still going on the second battery.

4) The cable that attaches to the the probe is thin and kinks easily. So, it’s a bit awkward and feels delicate. Overall, I would buy it again. especially for the price. =======Original review=======I will update as I use this temperature probe more; for now, here are my first impressions.

Excellent packaging. Pristine. Very well done for a product out of China, one I suspect is private labeled. So often, packaging is not first quality and the English instructions reveal the poor attention to details, and in general the product presents as CHEAP.

Not this product. It’s gift quality! I should say, when there ARE instructions at all – this one HAS instructions done just right. I am happy that a starter AAA battery was included. Didn’t really expect that these days.

I have wanted one of these ever since I saw Alton Brown use one on his show years ago but I wouldn’t pay the $$$. This price enticed me to try it. And I did try it out. right away. It’s simple to use, not overly complicated with options.

Switches on the back allow you to choose Fahrenheit or Celsius, and between Off, Timer, or Temperature Probe. Buttons on the top control settings for timer hours and minutes (no seconds), and setting the goal temperature.

There are preset options for food such as poultry, but those settings are way off anything I’m accustomed to using. (180F for poultry? That’s a dry bird in the end. )The display panel is big, easy to see, and shows both the current temperature and the goal cooking temperature.

Love that I can judge how far I’ve got to go to serve. The alarm that goes off when the temperature is reached is not very loud. That’s my only criticism. I don’t think I would hear it over music or washing dishes.

I’ll have to pay attention and check on it. But that’s really OK by me. Out of the box, I started probing everything. My coffee (113F), my water(70F), my hot water tap (133F!!), and the temperature of the brine water for the turkeys(45F)!!! (I added more ice to the brine immediately.

No worries, folks. ) I am happily surprised to see the temperature range go that low. (The high is 700F. ) The probe reacted quickly with hardly a delay as I checked different food items. I’ll be cooking a lot this week – two turkeys, fudge, candy(see PS below!!).

etc I’ll come back and let y’all know how it does. P. S. When I cook candies I won’t be relying on this alone as it is NOT designed to be submerged in liquids. I don’t want to risk damaging the probe or cable.

But I will be using it to double check my hard-to-read candy thermometer. I’ll just hand hold this new temperature probe, pop it in and pop it out. It’s all good.

Bought in August 2022 for use mostly in our RV oven, which is notoriously all over in temperature. The ThermoPro allows us to fairly accurately keep an eye on the temps and adjust as necessary. It also can be used as a temperature probe, so serves double-duty.

In March of 2022 the probe failed; it could not be inserted in the main unit. Initially I thought the mini-jack in the head unit broke. ThermoPro responded to my warranty inquiry almost immediately; within 5 days I had a replacement unit! So I would say the customer service is excellent.

Turned out it was the plug on the probe that somehow failed, or got bent, the new probe fits the old main unit. My only minor complaint, when using as an oven thermometer, is that the initial temperature setting is 212 degrees, so if you want to set if for 350 degrees you have to keep hitting the up button until you get there.

But, all-in-all, highly satisfied with ThermoPro TP-16. We have two other ThermoPro products as well.

This is simply the best meat thermometer I’ve ever owned. The ONLY thing I wish was different is that it used “AA” instead of “AAA” battery. I usually have a spare “AA” or two kicking around – I have a couple of wall clocks that use them – but I never seem to have a “AAA” on hand when a replacement is needed.

This is a minor downcheck, everything else about this gadget rocks. It comes with 2 probes, and I use Probe #1 in the meat, #2 on the oven rack next to the roasting pan to monitor the oven temp. When I cook a Prime Rib, I want the oven to be at 500°F for 25 minutes to sear the meat and lock in the juices, then 325° until the center of the meat reaches 140°, and this thermometer does this perfectly.

I did a 6. 5 pound, 3-rib roast last Friday, and it was perfect: Medium-well on the surface 1/2″, then Medium for the next 1/2″, then shading down to a delicious Medium-rare in the center. This thermoneter took out all the guesswork, and I was able to set the oven temperature control more accurately using it.

I’ve never had a better prime-rib dinner at Cattlemen’s, and it’s thanks to this meat thermometer. The cables are long enough, and the probes seem accurate. I tested them in a glass of ice water, and they read 32°F, just like they should.

On the high temperature end, when I pulled the roast out at 140°F, it was exactly the color and texture that a medium rare rib roast should be. The oven probe reacted very quickly to the rise and fall of the oven temperature as the gas burner cycled: I was able to find a dial setting for the oven that kept the rack temperature next to the roasting pan between 310°F and 330°F, so the average was right where I wanted it: 320°F.

Rib roast is pretty expensive, and over-cooking it kills that creamy texture of the medium-rare center which is what you expect when you pay for Prime Rib; this meat thermometer will help you not make a mistake and ruin your $60 standing rib roast, or the turkey if you are doing that, for your Holiday feast.

This Acu-Rite thermometer had many great features like the programs for the different meats, I loved that and it worked so well too. However, this unit failed after much usage (domestic) for twelve months or more.

It was out of warranty when it suddenly started giving wildly inaccurate temp readings and couldn’t be trusted. Acu-Rite in the USA couldn’t help me, they offered suggestions but none worked. So yes it’s a great thermometer when it worked even though it was expensive but obviously I’m disappointed with it’s short life.

We now use a cheaper push in probe thermometer with a meter on it, it’s a Weber that doesn’t use batteries and is just great.

I purchased this AcrRite Meat Thermometer because I had previously owned one of the same brand. It lasted for 10 years before a short developed in the cord. This one seems to work great. I’ve only had the opportunity to use it twice so far.

My only complaints would be. The magnets aren’t as strong as they use to be. It tends to slide a bit from it’s own weight. And the settings are just a bit complicated, compared to the first one I owned.

(On the other one, I just set a temp to reach & it beeped when it got there. ) My opinion is based on a comparison of this model to the other one I had for years. Overall, I would highly recommend this.

I have to admit I don’t do a lot of deep frying in my kitchen, so when I was gifted the Taylor Deep Fry/Candy Thermometer in exchange for my honest review, I had to bust the fryer out and treat myself to a little smorgasbord of fried foods.

The thermometer worked very accurately, and everything turned out great. I rarely make candies, which this tool can also be used for, but I do enjoy whipping up a batch of fudge once in a while, so I made some chocolate and some peanut butter fudge as well, so I could test this item out.

Again, it gave a very accurate reading, and both batches of fudge were delicious. This item has a slide arrow on the side that you can place right at the temperature you want your oil or confections to reach, so it’s very easy to tell when you’re at the desired temp.

It also clips easily onto just about any pot or fryer, so you can use it hands-free while you are tending to other tasks. If you are an avid candy cook or deep fryer user, this is an item you need in your kitchen.

It also comes with a one year warranty in case you have any issues, but it seems to be very sturdy, so I wouldn’t even be concerned with it wearing out on you!.

I love the versatility of this thermometer! I can use it on different sized pots and the 9 inch length and adjustable clip make it easy to do so. It can be used for deep frying, candy making, cooking various foods.

The face is easy to read so you can keep an eye of your desired temperature, along with a guide for quick reference on different food temperatures. It is extremely accurate from 50 degrees F to 550 degrees F.

The digital thermometer has a large display window, easy to read temp. Seems accurate compare with a standard thermometer. Shut down a bit too fast, but you only have to put it on. Good buy!

I used this thermometer for making Swiss Meringue Buttercream. Though it reads the temperature quite well, I have issues with the clip. The clip is very flimsy and does not cling to bowls very well. I don’t use thermometers often so this works fine for my occasional use.

I just hold the thermometer with my free hand. If you’re looking to free your hands by simply attaching a thermometer to a bowl then, I would not recommend this product. Other than that, I like that the display is adjustable and that it is an easy-read digital thermometer.

I have a 4 inch thermometer with no clip. It worked fine when I was using induction burners, but gas stoves are hot. It was to hard to hold the thermometer that close to the flame, so I needed a new tool.

This Taylor thermometer is twice as long as my old one and it has a clip, I can just clip it one to the pot and not burn my hand, just be careful not to hit the probe to hard and knock the whole thing in the pot, or flame.

This thermometer also has a pretty large digital screen that I can read form a few feet away.

My thermometer was not reading temp correctly as the red line inside had separated. Everything I did to fix it did not work so I ran out and bought this one (holiday cooking) and after the first FIRST FIRST use the same thing happened! I did exactly what it said on the back of the package to fix it and same thing, it did not work.

So disappointed as I had thrown my receipt away. Back to the old school inexpensive glass type.

I’m an avid treat maker. Used the old style thermometer for the last 30 years. Decided to give this one a try. And oh boy am I glad I did. Easier to place in pot then the old style, you don’t have to worry about it resting on the bottom of the pan and giving a inaccurate temp reading.

Favorite cooking purchase of the year!!!.

They work for quite a while but tend to lose there accuracy after about a year. The clip gets lose& can be used only on a pan that has straight sides. I have 3 of them because when I make candy it depends on the pot I use & how loose the thermometer clip is.

In a fire the price, it’s not bad but you really have to watch the thermometer & keep an eye on what your making.

The product worked great when I 1st got it. easy to use. They are not clear on how you change the battery and once you open it to do that it never goes back together the proper way. plus no instructions on how to remove battery.

it definitely doesnt just Pop-out. And putting it back together it doesnt just pop back on. I am a woman. so this might just be a man-thing. Dont like that I have to throw it away now because I cant figure it out.

I’m so happy I ordered this thermometer! It reads temperatures so quickly, much faster than my other ‘instant’ read thermometer. I wish it had a simple on/off button rather than pushing the button a third time and holding on the third press for 5 seconds.

gets annoying when you’re probing for temps MANY times. I don’t want to leave it on to wear out the battery. That being said, I still prefer this to the other three thermometers I have in the house. It’s probe is very thin compared to the others I have which makes it hard to see where I’ve probed baked goods.

It’s also longer so I don’t have to worry about touching the plastic cavity on the hot food. Excellent purchase for me.

I like this thermometer, I really do but it’s far from perfect. First off all, it’s not instant read. It can take several seconds if you’re reading something HOT. Second of all the thermometer separates from the storage sleeve easier than I would like to see.

Thirdly the clip is not all that strong. So it might separate from your jacket pocket easier than what you might expect. With all that being said, it’s not a bad little thermometer for the price.
