Giro Trella MIPS Helmet Matte Black / Silver UW
MARKET-LEADING PROTECTION: Engineered in Giro’s category-leading helmet test lab
MIPS: Utilizes the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System to redirect energy in a crash
The Trella MIPS Helmet from Giro represents an amazing amount of technology, especially when given its price point. You can expect a comfortable fit, plenty of coverage, and lots of ventilation in a design that works in the city and on the trails.
Giro builds the Trella using its In-Mold construction with a full polycarbonate Hardbody shell that reduces weight and boosts durability that’s needed for everyday use. Inside, an EPS lining helps absorb impact forces while its industry acclaimed Roc Loc Sport MIPS fit system makes adjusting as easy as turning a single dial.
That fit system integrates with its Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS), which can help redirect energy and may provide more protection in certain impacts. Add in its quick dry padding, reflective elements, and 18 vents to keep you from overheating and you have a helmet that will have you safely navigating whatever path is in front of you.
DURABLE CONSTRUCTION: Rowan Mountain Bike Helmet has you covered when the trails get tricky with a dense EPS foam interior that effectively absorbs impact energy to help reduce the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
BREATHABLE DESIGN: The Rowan is equipped with 14 large vents that will keep you cool and comfortable during those strenuous mountain rides. The lightweight in-mold polycarbonate outer shell provide protection without weighing you down! WASHABLE PADDING: The interior padding was designed to absorb sweat and keep you focused while out on a tough mountain climb.
Remove and wash the padding after every ride so you can feel fresh and ready to blaze new trails! ADJUSTABLE FIT: Helmet sizing is adjustable with an ErgoKnob dial that allows you to quickly dial in the most comfortable, snug fit for your head.
REMOVABLE VISOR: Keep your sights set on the trails and the sun out of your eyes with Rowan’s adjustable and removable visor.
More protection for your irreplaceable brain. Charge hard, knowing the Session MIPS helmet has you covered. If you crash, MIPS technology will reduce the rotational force to your head, helping prevent brain injury more effectively than your average road helmet.
Koroyd technology adds extra protection in strategic, zonal impact areas so you can focus on pushing your pace. 15-point ventilation keeps you cool when you’re working hard, and other impressive features include a rotary dial adjustment, removable visor, ventilation to prevent glasses fog, and cooling liner pads to wick sweat.
MIPS technology reduces rotational forces to the head in the event of a fall, lessening the potential damage to the brain. Zonal Koroyd panels provide consistent energy absorption to disperse impacts in the case of an accident.
VaporFit rotary dial adjustment system lets you fine-tune the fit. AirEvac ventilation system pulls warm air from in front of your face to reduce fog build-up on glasses. 15 vents provide breathability to keep your head cool.
X-Static liner pads with reactive cooling treatment help to pull sweat away from your head.
Ride to work or laps around the neighborhood, the Bell Thalia is always up for an adventure. The Bell True Fit system helps ensure a comfortable, proper fit with just one adjustment, while the 16 vents keep your head extra cool.
The rear reflectors ensure an enhanced visibility as you cruise through the concrete jungle.
The Kask Mojito Cubed Helmet is a cycling icon reloaded. Ride with pure comfort and reap the sweat-wicking benefits of Blue Tech padding. Stay cool with an optimised ventilation system designed to increase airflow.
Top it off with an iconic tail signature front lines and classic rounded lower shell in one of six eye-catching colors.
Having come off my MTB and smacked my 6-year old helmet against a rock, I thought it time for a replacement. I’ve had Kask lids before (and in fact crash-tested one to destruction on a cycle tour in India) so am confident in the fit and the protection.
Some online reviews criticised this model for the peak being too low. It is low, that’s true, but for sunny winter rides in Scotland when you are facing the low sun, it is perfect. When not into the sun, then the peak can be pivoted up out of view.
Even managed to get a helmet colour to match the bike. Definitely recommend.
Nice and compact helmet. Very flexible sizing, due to vertical and horizontal adjustment possibilities. Initially struggled to find the right way to wear my glasses with this helmet, but in the end figured it out and is not a problem.
I did struggle to find out what size would be best for me, as my head circumference is exactly on the border of the M and L. Decided to go for the M in the end and happy with my decision. Due to the adjustment possibilities it now sits nice and tight around my head, but not too tight.
The matt finish looks slick as well. Would recommend.
I purchased this helmet as a replacement for my original Kask Mojito. When the mojito 3 arrived I thought it looked quite a lot bulkier and when I used it the helmets inner cage did not support it causing it constantly move arranged.
In addition the padding at the front is way too think and soaks up all the sweat which then drips into your eyes. I’ve returned it to sigma sports for them to take and look and gone back to using my original helmet which in my opinion is far better.
Keep a cool head on your daily commute. With 13 vents, the Express helmet makes sure you feel the wind in your hair, while the in-mold construction and MIPS technology keeps you safe. MIPS technology (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) reduces rotational forces in an oblique impact.
An inner shell sandwiched between the foam and the padding reduces the rotational torque on the skull. Deep design provides increased protection on the back of the head. 13 strategically placed vents.
Quick drying liner wicks away moisture. Dial fit system offers easy adjustments. Integrated rear light (solid and flashing modes) and reflective straps help keep you seen. Removeable fabric visor.
I thankfully haven’t had the opportunity to test how well this helmet would protect my head if I were to fall/crash/get hit by a truck, but it checks most of the requirements I have for a bike helmet: easily adaptable sizing, quality materials and ‘build’, and lightweight.
My son and I frequently trade off helmets depending on what we’re doing, and he’ll sometimes use this one. When I get it back, resizing the straps and dialing in the tightness is really easy. The main strap has a lot of material hanging off on the end but it’s easy enough to fold it and secure with a rubber band, or if you want, just cut it to trim.
Every time I got to put it on, I expect it to be heavier than it is. I’m always surprised that it doesn’t weigh down on my head. I really wish it had a couple more vents in the front or on the sides to help dissipate heat.
There are quite a few vents/holes in the back, which is fine I guess, but I actually prefer another helmet I have that has a ton of holes/vents, so when I’m really picking up speed the air basically moves through the helmet and keeps me cooler.
I’ve had a few rides with this helmet where my hair is just soaked with sweat. The helmet comes with a really conservatively sized visor that you can Velcro in to give you a little bit of eye protection/shade if it’s bright, but it’s so small I’m really not sure what the point is.
Make it a little bit longer or just don’t include it. It’s been sitting in the box after using once, and I just end up wearing sunglasses instead. The light that ‘plugs’ into one of the rear slots is bright enough for safety in poor lighting and does the trick.
All in all a decent, sturdy helmet that I feel safe riding in.
Out of the box it was easy to dial in the sizing for a snug, yet comfortable fit. There weren’t any instructions for the accessory visor, which arguably is intuitive, or so I thought. A word of caution – I thought it would be easy to install the accessory visor by removing the strip of fabric at the front of the helmet.
As I pulled on the fabric, which is attached by velcro, I started to see the velcro strips coming apart from the helmet. I was scared that I would rip them off. Moral of the story is, make sure to put pressure on the velcro attachment points as you remove the fabric strip from the helmet in order to install the accessory visor.
This will ensure you don’t pull the velcro attachment points off the helmet. Yes, the velcro is that sticky! Aside from that minor nit, I am thoroughly pleased with the helmet. It has a lower profile than other helmets that I have used so it looks more streamlined on your noggin.
Additionally, the helmet came with an easy to install rear facing, led light (solid red and blinking modes). While I have a rear light on my bike already, it is nice to have another light for extra protection and added visibility.
Overall, this is a great product that will last many years and many miles.
This is my new favorite helmet, thanks to the rear light and reflective straps. The light pops into one of the openings in the back back of the helmet and pops out just as easily. I LOVE THIS FEATURE.
It’s simple to use, and you can easily turn on while riding. You just push on the light once for solid or twice for flashing. Bike safety is a big concern to me, and I plan to get several more of these helmets for my teenagers.
The helmet is extremely lightweight and easily adjustable with the back dial. The fabric visor is great, but I wish it was bigger and extended out a little further from the helmet.

I have t been able to get it working since it arrived and I didnt know it came without a hard drive its still sat in box and I would really like to return it for one that works ! And the instruction that came with it was for another make.
I’m using this on a very old Russian lens, so I can’t be absolutely sure it doesn’t have an impact on the results colorwise, but I haven’t noticed at all. I’m very pleased with this filter.

I have not worn a helmet in years while my husband usually wears one and we always make sure our kids have helmets and we do encourage our kids to wear helmets. I started taking more frequent bike rides with my husband and teen daughters last year.
A few weeks back for my birthday i asked my husband if we could bike to a restaurant in the city. As we were getting ready to leave I asked my husband why he had his helmet on. He chuckled and said we have a lot a city streets to contend with.
He then asked if i wanted to see if wanted to wear our daughters bell spark. I agreed thinking of the city traffic. As I slipped it on i was surprised how easy it was to adjust and fit. There was ample adjustment to get the perfect fit.
After our ride I realized it was much better vented than the helmet i wore years ago. The vizor really helped with the sun and the knob adjustkept it from moving around. And the white color did not clash with my bike or outfit.
No complaints here i am looking for a spark for myself and cant deside on the color.
When we bought our daughter a new bike last year we also got her a spark helmet in white. She wears it with out complaint on every ride. I very rarely ride and do not have a helmet my husband wears a helmet both by himself and on frequent rides with our daughter.
Last week our daughter was at camp and my husband asked if I would join him for a ride. I agreed but then realized he would be wearing his helmet and i would feel very out of place bareheaded. It then occurred to me to wear our daughters spark helmet.
I was surprised as I strapped it on how easy it was to adjust. What was even more shocking was how the air vents kept me coop and the visor helped with sun glare. Afterwards i told my husband i was going to get a helmet for our next family ride.
I was looking for a reasonably priced helmet for my holiday to France. I don’t ride bikes regularly so I wanted a helmet that has mips but doesn’t cost the earth. This helmet was perfect! I wore it all day for three days (on and off) in very hot weather and it was very comfortable.

Giro’s Seyen MIPS Helmet combines a touch of European flair with extended protection for the sides and back of the head, all tucked into a slim design that doesn’t look bulky atop your head. Combine this with the added protection of MIPS technology and you’ve got pretty impressive helmet that doesn’t cost a fortune.
Using their In-Mold construction process, Giro fuses a tough polycarbonate shell to impact-absorbing EPS foam while inside the mold, creating a lightweight yet strong helmet with extensive ventilation and minimal bulk.
On the inside of the EPS liner, Giro incorporates their Roc Loc 5 Air MIPS retention system for a highly adjustable fit that stays in place and is comfortable on longer rides. By integrating MIPS with the retention system, Giro improves the overall fit without sacrificing the ability of the MIPS system to disperse rotational forces in the event of an angled impact.
Giro incorporates 25 Wind Tunnel vents that channel incoming air over your head while pushing hot and stale air out, helping the Seyen MIPS stay cool regardless of how hot it is outside or how tough the climb is.
Additionally, the CoolFit anti-microbial padding effectively manages sweat to further aid in keeping you cool, all while resisting odor build-up over time.
Blazing a trail in both protection and style, the Verce MTB Cycle Helmet is packed with features to keep you safe and comfortable and ensures your mountain biking can be enjoyed to its fullest. Hardbody Shell The Hardbody shell wraps from the outside of the helmet to the inside, giving a significant boost to durability compared to regular helmets.
The in-mould construction sees a tough polycarbonate outer shell fused directly with the helmet’s impact-absorbing foam liner. This in-mould fusion process allows Giro to optimise ventilation without compromising protection, so in-mould helmets can be both lighter and cooler than traditional helmets.

You shouldn’t have to pay out the nose in order to get a helmet that will really protect you when the worst happens. The Fox Racing Speedframe MIPS Bike Helmet comes with all the latest safety innovations but without the huge price tag.
Designed for trail riding where you want good coverage but also mobility, visibility, and a low weight, the Speedframe MIPS has optimized the venting system and provides cooling channels thanks to the molded EPS interior profile.
It encourages the wind to blow through, cooling your head just as things start hotting up. The MIPS impact protection system is included particularly because it has proved to be exceptionally efficient at reducing the rotational forces that you’ll generally be subject to when you crash on your head at speed.
It hurts to think about, but it’s nice to know that the Speedframe MIPS helmet will be there to protect you should a crash happen. Fox Racing hasn’t ignored the practical matters either. So they have designed the adjustable visor to be goggle compatible thanks to the fact that it has a 3-position settings.

This is the first time I dealt with Erik’s and they were great. The transaction went smoothly and the delivery was quite speedy. I bought this specific helmet due to its high safety ranking from Virginia Tech.
Unfortunately, Specialized can say what it wants about the ventilation, but it is certainly inadequate for summers in Texas. Further, the adjustment of the straps is extremely limited, making the fit around the ears quite disappointing.
This is quite maddening, as it is much more a function of poor, lazy design than an issue of cost management. Other than minimal buckle adjustment, the straps have zero adjustability. I have seen bargain-basement helmets with better designed straps.
I also found the helmet to feel heavier than the specified weight. On the bright side, it is a fairly good-looking lid. I would probably look very stylish while lying on the ground unconscious from heatstroke.
Within a minute on the road I knew I had a winner. Not only is this helmet lower profile than most, it also ventilates surprisingly well. Note this runs big, and even a bit larger than other Specialized.
Though I wear a L or even L/XL in my past 10 or so helmets, this one I fit a medium. My MTB helmet is the new Ambush in Large so if you are anywhere close to between sizes I’d be sure to try this on first.
When ‘hitting the trails’ means pushing your limits, look to the Rally mountain bike helmet to keep you covered. A true off-road design, this lightweight lid lets you charge hard.
