12 Best Bible Studies For Couples (2023 Updated)

I wasn’t sure when I bought it if it would be a real gospel centered book. It is. It brings up good talking points and things to ponder with your significant other. The devotion we went over last night was titled, “God’s son, God’s daughter”.

The pastor compared how if we want to be on his good side, treat his kids well, but if you want to make him mad, mistreat or bully his kids. He then compared it (though on a much larger scale, as God’s love is so great) to how God wants us to treat our significant other, how His child ought to be treated -and as someone made in His image.

There aren’t really questions at the end; it’s more for discussion, and to make you think, and also think of things to pray on. It’s a very sweet, well written devotional, that is not over whelming, but gently nudges you closer to your spouse.

We enjoyed this devotional so much that we read it every day instead of every week. We also bought 7 copies and shared with family and friends. This is not your typical devotional with weak ‘fillers’ to stretch out the book.

It’s very enlightening and gave both me and my husband a lot to consider, discuss, and change in our marriage. It’s so far, the best devotional we’ve ever read.

If you read this book with your spouse and follow even half of the advice you will be very happy in your marriage. I recommend to do it all and your marriage will be fantastic.

This beautiful book has become something that my husband and I read nightly. The Love Dare for Couples Devotion is a short 1 page per day devotional of encouraging reminders that the greatest gift is love.

After so many years of marriage it seems that everyone tends to take their mate for granted. With Bible based tips, I really look forward to the weekly love dares to become closer to God and my spouse.

It’s a good reminder that God put a husband and wife together as one on earth above all others. Renew your love for your husband or wife the way God meant things to be and trust Him. Couples should always be there for each other especially when life gets in the way.

Half of all marriages end in divorce. That means most marriage relationships are either severely dysfunctional or headed that way. What is the answer? The Love Dare’s answer is that we don’t really understand how to live out the love that marriage requires.

Inspired by the movie Fireproof, this book is a forty day devotional that covers various aspects of the true sacrificial love which is missing from many marriages. There is a lot to like about this book.

It clearly explains the nature of mature love & practically challenges you to live it out. It emphasizes how YOU have to be the one to take responsibility and change, regardless of how your partner does or does not respond, and it shows how the strength for that kind of love is powered by a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

This book has had a powerful impact on thousands of people, and I am very thankful for the truth it teaches. However, the book does have some shortcomings. First, the book is unnaturally constrained to fit the plot of the movie.

The movie’s plot confronted the main character with his need for a personal relationship with God mid-way through, and so the book follows suit. Halfway through the forty days, we suddenly shift to a presentation of how living out sacrificial love should make one realize his absolute need for Christianity.

For Christians reading a book on marriage, the discussion of how our relationship with Christ should structure our marital relationship should be foundational, should be page 1. On the other hand, a non-Christian reading the book frankly is unlikely to be impressed by this sudden foray into an altar call in the middle of the book.

Second, the book spends little time on the differing roles of the husband and wife in a marriage. From a Biblical standpoint, there are real & crucial differences in how a man loves & responds to his wife vs.

how a woman loves & responds to her husband. The Love Dare doesn’t address these differing roles which are very important to the success of any Christian marriage. Third, I felt there was this unwritten “if you do these steps your marriage will be transformed” aura to the book.

While all marriages can benefit from going through this devotional, I think that many seriously troubled marriages will not have the movie’s storybook happy ending at the end of forty days. Consequently, I fear people will either conclude they failed in some way or that God failed in some way.

Neither would be true. Many marriages need more than just a good devotional; they need intensive personal intervention by a person of wisdom such as a counselor or pastor plus two partners who are both committed and humble.

In my experience true humility is seldom found in both halves of a troubled relationship. The Love Dare is forty days of wisdom and challenge that will benefit any marriage; just don’t consider it to be the complete cure-all for every troubled relationship in the world.

Update. Ordered another one. When done with this one gonna give to son and his fiance. Every couple should have this book. Time will tell. After 13 years of marriage, the best 13 years of my life, my wife tells me she isn’t happy and not in love with me anymore.

She is the love of my life so I will try anything to get her to find her feeling. A friend recommended the movie and books so I ordered The Love Dare Day By Day. Then realizing what I did then ordered The Love Dare.

Still waiting for it. But I will do anything in my power to save my marriage. I got into church already and pray pray pray. I won’t give up on my wife. A LITTLE UPDATE! I have read ahead to day 50 in 3 days and going back each morning to the day I’m on and reread and do the dare.

I know after this three days that if I had this book 13 years ago I would not be in this situation today. I’m not taking any shortcuts. Putting 200% in this and the 40 day challenge also. I’m praying my wife sees the difference and comes home.

I was great to her in many ways before it was just my attitude. Now that I know and these books, if it’s not to late and she gives me the chance with the help of God I will never let my wonderful wife down again.

A real strength opf the book is its relatively short chapters,listed Scriptural verses for further meditation,and exercises to complete that you can then share with your partner. I initially acquired the book for mty adult daughter, and believe in giving her this book it was one of the most practical things I could do for her to develop her understanding of practical spirituality.

This book has a variety of topics for dating couples. However the contents is more suitable for couples in their early 20’s. I felt certain topics should have been written with more biblical insight.

My husband and I always felt our marriage was pretty strong but were looking for different ideas for our nightly devotions. I saw this book during a search of works by Dr. James Dobson, we greatly admire this man and his family.

This book has helped us strengthen our marriage by giving us new concepts to think about as well as reinforcing the fact that the way we handle certain situations has been ‘spot on’ and we’re definitely doing something correct! We love the Sunday opening story by Dr.

Dobson, the closing story by Shirley, his wife, with 5 daily readings for Mon-Fri, which include personal questions to ask each other, followed by a closing prayer. Would highly recommend this book for newly-weds as well as the ‘seasoned’ couple like us, going on 34 years in April 2018.

My husband and I were encouraged to read this book to help us through the hump in our marriage. The book is Bible-based, which I like, so it follows what Christ teaches. The way it is written, it is broken down into daily devotionals with either personal experiences from the authors, or other individuals with relevant experiences to the topic.

Each week the topic changes and there are questions that each spouse answers. Saturdays and Sundays readings are for summing up the previous topic and introducing the next, usually with no questions.

The topics are point-on and really open the conversation up to deal with things that each person may not want to deal with. Life is hard and a marriage is no different. It takes work to be successful in both.

This book is designed for couples with children who live in the home. We are empty-nesters, so interacting with children in the home is not applicable to our situation. We are still going through the book and intend to finish it.

I like how relatable the topics are and how they challenge you to go deeper in your faith journey while also assisting you in considering how the Gospel message is relevant today. To have a relationship with anyone, it is necessary to understand some things about that person. This book helps understand some of those things about God. Knowing His character allows us to trust Him in those hard places.

I bought multiple copies of this book to teach in our ladies’ Sunday School class. It is very well organized and informative. Good research and interesting delivery. Good discussion questions at the end of each chapter.

This topic is one all believers should pursue in order to know God better. His names reflect His character. Great study and written at a level all can understand. Highly recommended for personal or group study.

I just finished reading through the Bible with this study. Here are my thoughts- Pros: -An organized way to get an overview of each book of the Bible. My goal was to read quickly and connect one book to the others.

I was able to do this with the help of the study. -A generally sound theology. There weren’t too many things I flat out disagreed with, or didn’t find to be biblically sound. Cons: -On a practical note- there were a TON of typos/editing issues.

Multiple in each book. In some instances, entire paragraphs were printed twice. I did this study with my grandma, a former teacher, and she wants to be your editor 🙂 -There is a lot in the Bible that we are not meant to know, but Zach spends a lot of time trying to know them.

There is a lot of end-times theology that he theorizes on throughout the entire study. I don’t think that’s wrong, I just think it’s distracting from the main point and can be hard for a new believer.

-Zach presents multiple points of view in certain interpretations of passages, but then delves deeper into only the one he thinks is correct. It was presented like “scholars don’t agree- but I’m probably right.

” -My biggest issue with this study is that it seems very “Windahl focused. ” The main character of this study seems to be Zach. I’m all for personal stories, but he really seemed to be elevating himself higher than was appropriate.

My first clue should have been the study itself being shipping in a box with a sticker of his face on it. I was also uncomfortable with the fact that he has really no formal biblical education. YWAM is great, but reading the bible on a beach does not make you a theologian.

I think this study is great for someone like me who has a lot of theological background and just wants to have a guided way to read through the whole Bible. I would not recommend this to a new believer, or to someone looking for a deep knowledge of the Bible.

Critical thinking was essential to weed out the speculations from the truths.

I was very interested to find a place that you let you purchase workbooks that go through the Bible chapter by chapter. I have not been real good at doing it daily but hope to start again in the New Year.

I have gotten through the Torah and found it most interesting. The depth of the questions really make it interesting and memorable long after you have finished one chapter. I think it a very important part of my spiritual journey and hope to many others will find it as rewarding as I have at this point in my life.

I am 66, but was raised in the church and know “all the main stories” you learn as a child into adulthood. But after years of marriage, children, deaths, health problems, generally living life for over 40 years I had learned that what little I really knew of the Bible and how it was not giving me what I needed in trying times.

Hence my journey began to find a way to better understand, learn and grow from reading the Bible BUT really understanding what it meant even though I read it a hundred times. I think this series of workbooks will help me do that.

I can go at my own pace and take as long as I need to comprehend and take to heart.

I have never been happier and truly CRAVED The Word as much as I do right now! The sections are set up for your busy schedule and are worded/situated with easy to understand thoughts. All the questions I have asked myself during certain parts of the Bible are asked AND ANSWERED right there in front of my face so it makes me feel so much better to know that I’m not the only one wondering these things but I now have answers to them as well.

I have told everyone I know about The Bible Study because it has truly helped me in so many ways. So thankful to have found this <3.

We had a couples’ retreat where this book was the basis of our teachings. It was so rich and full of great advice, that I ordered several to give to friends. I can promise this book will enrich any marriage, but especially a Christian one.

A friend mentioned this book to me in conversation. I Google’d it and checked out the reviews. Thats when I knew it was a must have for me. I always found it challenging to understand without having a workbook to apply what i have been reading.

I also found the KJV difficult for me to understand. So I purchased a bible. courtesy of the same friend which has 4 versions. These two pieces were vital to my comprehension. This is a must have. Get it.

You receive 2 books. You can write on the pages there is enough room. I feel like I’m in a Bible class but with much updated material that will help understand and be excited about reading God’s word.

I absolutely love this study. It’s clear that the author really took time and did his homework on the context, background, authors in the Bible, etc. It makes it a bit easier for me when trying to research and understand historical context of the times for when things were written and what was happening.

And the prompts and questions really help me dig deeper into the text. Finally, I love the fun designs amongst the pages. It brings life to Bible study, challenges me, provokes thought, and frankly, it’s worth more than it’s listed for.
